You will join a group world-leading team of researchers spanning major industry partners in the creative sector, and academia, with strong track record in publishing and shipping media provenance technologies to create real-world impact in fighting online harms and misinformation, and ensuring a fair and equitable decentralized markets for content re-use e.g. when training AI models.Alongside our industry partners, we have impacted the development of international standards in provenance and impacted millions of users through commercial implementation of our research. We are looking for research software engineer able to scale research prototypes into practical multi-partner demonstrators, working alongside a group with significant research track record in content authenticity and media provenance.As part of the multi-disciplinary DECaDE centre you will be a technologist working alongside experts in AI, cyber-security, business models and experts in design and creative IP law spanning Surrey, Edinburgh and the Digital Catapult. Together we will develop user-centred technologies to help support creative practitioners in the emerging gig/peer-to-peer economy in which everyone can become a content producer or consumer, and in which AI democratizes access to the re-use and creation of content in ways that offer opportunity but also demand new techniques to ensure fairness, inclusivity and safety of these tools.The position is based at the University of Surrey in Guildford, UK.
