Position Details
Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
The Lecturer-Pool Faculty will teach undergraduate and/or graduate Athletic Training courses within the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and Athletic Training, dependent upon an applicant’s academic background, experience, and credentials. Pool faculty contracts are for one semester based on departmental needs but may be renewed based on performance and need. Departmental need is driven by student enrollment and internal workload commitments.
Preferred Ares of Expertise Include: Orthopedics, Rehabilitation, Performance Enhancement, Urgent and Emergent Care and/or Primary Care.
Educational Requirements for the Position
Master’s degree in Athletic Training or Related Field of Study
Experience Required for the Position
Must have current state licensure and hold National Certification from the Board of Certification ( BOC ).Please upload Athletic Training Texas State License and Athletic Training Certification from the Board of Certification under optional document – Teaching Portfolio.
Preferred Qualifications: EMT Instructor Certification and/or EMT Advanced Certification, Teaching experience, Experience teaching in a CAATE accredited program, Experience as a Clinical Preceptor for a CAATE accredited program.

The Department seeks to recruit and retain qualified faculty with contemporary expertise in the assigned teaching area. Qualified applicants with experience working in a variety of settings and populations are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants should discuss any teaching experience as well as their clinical expertise.
Special Instructions Summary
Travel to SHSU Campuses in Huntsville, TX, Conroe, TX, and/or The Woodlands, TX are required for some positions, typically 2-3 days/week. A minimum of two hours of office hours are expected weekly during the academic term. Experience in online teaching and online training and certificates required for those who teach online courses..
