Position Description
The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology (CBP) at WashU School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. We seek an outstanding investigator who will establish an innovative, externally funded research program, with a particular focus on the cell biology of RNA and cancer. We encourage applications from investigators who integrate fundamental RNA biology with important questions in human disease, who address fundamental questions in cancer cell biology and/or who develop new quantitative ways to interrogate RNA biology at molecular, cellular, and organismal scales. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a successful research program, contribute to the intellectual and educational mission of the Department, mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and lead service and teaching activities appropriate to their career stage.
The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology is an interdisciplinary and collaborative research community with programs spanning quantitative cell biology, cancer biology, cell signaling, membrane biology, cytoskeleton, organelle biology, metabolism, genomics, proteomics, and structural approaches. The department is embedded within the broad and deep research environment of WashU School of Medicine and other WashU schools, which provides extensive opportunities for interactions across departments, institutes, and research programs.
WashU School of Medicine offers exceptional resources for investigators working at the interface of basic biology and human disease, including advanced genomics, single-cell and spatial technologies, quantitative imaging, structural biology, computational biology, and translational research infrastructure. The successful candidate will be able to develop collaborations not only within basic sciences, but also with translational and clinical research.
