Faculty Position in the Department of English Language and Literature, Bilkent University
The Department of English Language and Literature at Bilkent University, Ankara, invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applications from scholars with research interests in any subfield of British or global Anglophone literatures are welcome. We particularly encourage applicants whose specializations include poetry and/or medieval studies.
Minimum requirements are a Ph.D. in English or Comparative Literature in hand by May 2027, a good teaching record, and a clearly defined research agenda. Candidates should be able to offer specialized teaching in their research field, and should also be well prepared to teach across various genres and periods in English literature. The starting date for this post is September 2027.
The Department of English Language and Literature currently offers an undergraduate program that covers British, Irish, and postcolonial literatures, ranging from the medieval period to the present. American Culture and Literature is an independent department at Bilkent, and we will not consider applicants working solely on U.S. literature, though transatlantic and comparative approaches are welcome. The teaching load for faculty is 2-2. The successful candidate would join a department that has been expanding continually over the past few years and is dedicated to supporting faculty research. Further information about the department can be found on the department website: https://elit.bilkent.edu.tr.
