The University of Liverpool, in partnership with NHS England North West, has developed an exciting opportunity for integrated clinical academic training in Paediatric Dentistry. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with the potential to excel in both clinical and academic training. The NIHR Clinical Lecturer (ACL) will join our team of specialists in Paediatric Dentistry at Liverpool University Dental Hospital and Alder Hey Children's Hospital, and their academic work will be aligned with the School of Dentistry's Oral Health Research Group.
Academic and clinical training
The post is 50% academic and 50% clinical, for up to 4 years or until CCST. The academic component, overseen by Professor Sondos Albadri, will support the ACL to develop a sustainable programme of postdoctoral research, prepare applications for further personal funding and publish peer-reviewed research. Clinical training in Paediatric Dentistry will take place at Liverpool University Dental Hospital, Alder Hey Children's Hospital and Community Dental Service sites, with possible travel to other sites in the region, following the GDC Paediatric Dentistry curriculum.
The post is offered at ST1–ST3 depending on previous training, with an anticipated start date of September/October 2027. Applicants must have submitted their PhD thesis by the closing date, with the degree awarded before taking up post. Applicants without a National Training Number in Paediatric Dentistry must also apply to the 2027 national Paediatric Dentistry specialty recruitment via Oriel; any offer will be conditional on successful clinical benchmarking.
Interviews will be held on the 9th December 2026.
