Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Convention against Cybercrime; Strengthening International Cooperation for Combating Certain Crimes Committed by Means of Information and Communications Technology Systems and for the Sharing of Evidence in Electronic Form of Serious Crimes, was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution 79/243 of 24 December 2024. It represents the first global treaty addressing cybercrime and enhancing international cooperation on electronic evidence of serious crimes. Article 16 of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime represents the first criminal prohibition at the global level of the non-consensual sharing of intimate images (NCII).
