About the Blavatnik School of Government

Our vision is of a world better led, a world better served and a world better governed. We are a global school committed to improving the quality of government and public policymaking worldwide, through three routes: teaching current and future leaders; generating research with impact; and engaging with governments and practitioners.

We host regular events with leading global figures, all of which are open to staff. On the social side, we have regular staff coffee/cake mornings, a family-friendly Halloween event, and Christmas and summer parties.

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing, and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

  • An excellent contributory pension scheme
  • 38 days’ annual leave
  • Family leave schemes and a comprehensive range of childcare services
  • Cycle loan scheme and discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
  • Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs
  • Opportunities for remote working.

About the role

The post-holder will manage and deliver applied research across multiple workstreams within the What Works Hub for Global Education (WWHGE), contributing to evidence-informed education policy and reform. They will design and apply qualitative and quantitative research methods, analyse evidence from diverse sources and produce high-quality research outputs, including reports, policy briefs and publications.

Working collaboratively with researchers, governments and international partners, the post-holder will translate research findings into practical policy recommendations and contribute to technical assistance, capacity-strengthening activities and policy engagement with governments and implementers. They will also support the development of new research studies, coordinate complex projects and contribute to programme planning, stakeholder engagement and the wider dissemination of research findings.

About you

You will hold a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, with a PhD/DPhil preferred, and have specialist knowledge of international education, public policy, implementation research or a related field. You will have experience managing research projects, applying qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies, analysing complex evidence and producing high-quality research outputs for academic and policy audiences.

You will have excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences. You will also have experience working across interdisciplinary and international partnerships, developing evidence-informed policy and delivery plans, and supporting capacity-building activities in low- and middle-income country partner organisations and / or governments. Strong organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and experience contributing to research proposals and funding opportunities are also essential.
