An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Tsai laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. The project centers on a novel family of stress-response ATPases that act on RNA and ribonucleoprotein particles.

仕事内容・職務内容

The postdoctoral fellow will carry out research on a novel family of stress-response ATPases that act on RNA and ribonucleoprotein particles. The duties include preparing RNA, performing in vitro transcription, and measuring RNA-protein binding quantitatively. The fellow will also prepare ribosomes, run in vitro translation assays, and purify and characterize proteins. Training in recombinant protein overexpression and purification will be provided. The fellow will analyze and interpret the data, present results at laboratory meetings, and prepare manuscripts for publication.

給与

US dollars. Salary follows the current NIH NRSA scale and starts at USD 63,480 per year, plus health benefits.

勤務時間

Working hours :09:00-18:00

Break time :12:00-13:00

Holidays : Saturdays, Sundays, 7 official paid holidays, and 4 paid floating days off each calendar year. Postdoctoral fellows also receive 15 days of vacation and 24 days of sick leave each appointment year.

Overtime and other explanations : Full-time position, 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. Experiments occasionally run into evenings or weekends, and the fellow is expected to see them through. Evening and weekend work is not routine, and vacation and sick leave are respected.

PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field.

業務における経験

Experience in RNA preparation, in vitro transcription, and quantitative RNA-protein binding assays

説明

At least one first-author publication is required. Experience with ribosome preparation, in vitro translation assays, protein purification, and protein characterization is an advantage. Applicants must be eligible for J-1 visa sponsorship.

Pay increase system : Salary follows the NIH NRSA postdoctoral scale, which rises with each year of postdoctoral experience.
