Technology is changing what graduates need to know and how universities teach and assess their learning. At Arden University, we’re undertaking a substantial curriculum transformation to respond to that change, while strengthening educational quality and helping more students succeed through flexible online and blended study.
We’re seeking a Dean of Applied Technology and AI for a newly created role reporting directly to the Provost and Chief Academic Officer. You’ll set the academic direction of a school serving approximately 5,800 students. The Head of School will report to you and retain responsibility for day-to-day leadership, allowing you to focus on strategy, transformation and the School’s academic performance.
You’ll lead the development of a curriculum that keeps pace with technological change and equips students to apply their knowledge in the workplace. Alongside this, you’ll drive improvements in teaching, assessment and student support, with particular attention to continuation, completion and progression. Strengthening future TEF performance and meeting expectations for educational quality and academic standards will be central to your work.
AI will be a significant part of your remit, both as a subject students need to understand and as a technology changing education itself. You’ll bring an informed view of its potential and limitations, helping colleagues develop approaches that improve learning, support authentic assessment and prepare graduates for changing professional expectations. External partnerships will help ensure that the School’s provision remains relevant and connected to practice.
We’re looking for an academically credible leader in computing, AI or a related discipline, with a record of leading curriculum change and improving student outcomes. You’ll be able to distinguish promising ideas from approaches that deliver results and give colleagues the direction and support to put them into practice.
You’ll combine academic judgement with commercial awareness and an understanding of how to deliver sustainable growth. Working in an environment where priorities can change quickly, you’ll make effective decisions about programmes, partnerships and resources while keeping students’ learning and future prospects at the centre of your work.
