Arden University opens higher education to people who need to fit study around their lives. Through online and blended learning, we help students develop their knowledge, build their confidence and create new opportunities. We’re now undertaking significant academic and curriculum transformation, with a clear focus on the quality of our education and the outcomes our students achieve.
We’re seeking a Dean of Psychology for a newly created role reporting directly to the Provost and Chief Academic Officer. This appointment offers the opportunity to shape the direction of a school serving approximately 3,000 students. The Head of School will report to you and remain responsible for its day-to-day leadership, giving you the scope to concentrate on academic strategy, transformation and performance.
Your priorities will be to strengthen educational quality, improve student continuation, completion and progression and lead curriculum development that reflects the needs of students, employers and the profession. You’ll help improve future TEF performance and ensure that innovation, including the use of AI in teaching and assessment, is supported by sound academic judgement. Maintaining professional accreditation and developing the School’s external relationships will be important parts of the role.
We’re looking for an academically credible psychologist with a record of leading change and delivering measurable improvements in education. You’ll bring experience of academic leadership, curriculum development and quality enhancement, alongside an understanding of professional accreditation. You’ll know how to use evidence to identify where students need better support and turn that insight into effective action.
You’ll also understand the relationship between academic quality, student demand and sustainable growth. Arden operates in a commercial environment where priorities can evolve quickly, so you’ll need to make clear decisions, manage resources thoughtfully and work effectively with colleagues across the University. Above all, you’ll bring ambition for what a flexible, professionally relevant psychology education can help students achieve.
