The Opportunity:
Where discovery never stops. Be part of something bigger.
Whether you’re looking to take the next step in your current specialism, explore a new challenge, or broaden your experience, we offer opportunities where you can flourish and make a real difference. Our people come from a wide range of backgrounds, each bringing their abilities and experiences to our organisation, helping us thrive and innovate together.
The University of Edinburgh is a world-class organisation. We are a large University covering a wide range of activities. In Professional Services, we support the University’s research and teaching, offering many career and role specialisms.
As the Project Archivist (Milestones in Care), you will catalogue, preserve and share the archive of Milestone House, Scotland’s first purpose-built AIDS hospice, ensuring its important history and the experiences of those connected to it are accessible for future generations. Opened in 1991, Milestone House was a place of care, compassion and community for people living with HIV at a time when effective treatments were unavailable, and stigma was widespread.
Funding from the Archives Revealed Consortium Grant will support a partnership between Lothian Health Services Archive at the University of Edinburgh, Waverley Care, Scotland’s HIV and hepatitis C charity and the National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive, giving you the unique opportunity to work collaboratively to capture a vital chapter in Scotland’s response to HIV and the pioneering work of Waverley Care. The role will require you to work on site in both Edinburgh and in Glasgow.
Our people are at the centre of the University community and everything we do. We value colleagues with drive, determination and a passion for what they do. We are a place where everyone is welcome and offer a range of policies and benefits designed to support you in building the right meaningful flexibility that works for you.
