Due to significant growth in student numbers within our Foundation School, London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) is recruiting five Subject Leads to join us in January 2027, supporting our expanding February 2027 intake.

We are seeking experienced academic professionals who can provide academic leadership, drive excellent student outcomes, and support the continued development of our programmes. We have opportunities across both our further and higher education provision:

Opportunities Available

Level 3 Subject Leads (2 positions)

  • Foundation Year (Business Pathway)

Levels 4 & 5 Subject Leads (3 positions)

  • FdA Applied Business Management
  • Hospitality and Event Management

The Role

As a Subject Lead, you will play a key role in shaping the student experience by providing academic leadership for your designated modules. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality curriculum delivery, maintaining academic standards, and supporting teaching teams to achieve outstanding student outcomes.

Working closely with Course Directors, Module Coordinators, and lecturers, you will lead the development of engaging, industry-relevant learning experiences that prepare students for academic progression and future employment.

Whilst this role does not involve direct line management responsibility, you will act as the academic lead for your subject area, providing guidance, consistency, and leadership across teaching teams.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership

  • Lead the development and delivery of modules within your subject area, ensuring alignment with programme specifications and sector expectations.
  • Act as the academic point of contact for lecturers and module teams.

Curriculum Development

  • Design and maintain high-quality module content, teaching materials, assessment briefs, and VLE resources.
  • Ensure curriculum content remains current, relevant, and engaging.

Assessment and Feedback

  • Develop robust assessment strategies and marking criteria.
  • Support consistency of assessment, moderation, and feedback practices across teaching teams.

Quality Assurance

  • Contribute to quality enhancement activities and academic governance processes.
  • Monitor module performance and implement improvements where required.

Student Success

  • Analyse performance, progression, attendance, and engagement data to enhance student outcomes.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving retention, continuation, and achievement.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with academic colleagues to ensure a consistent and high-quality student experience.
  • Share best practice and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

About You

We are looking for passionate educators with strong academic and leadership experience who are committed to delivering an exceptional student experience.

You should be confident leading academic initiatives, supporting colleagues, and using data and insight to drive continuous improvement.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  • A postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional qualification in Business, Management, Hospitality, Events, or a related discipline.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCertHE, PGCE, DTLLS, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
  • Fellowship of Advance HE (or willingness to work towards this).

Teaching Experience

  • Significant teaching experience within the UK education sector, preferably within Higher Education and/or Further Education.
  • Experience of teaching and assessing students at Level 3 and/or Levels 4 and 5.

Leadership Experience

  • Proven experience of providing academic leadership, curriculum leadership, module leadership, or programme leadership.
  • Experience supporting and guiding academic teams to ensure consistent standards and student outcomes.

Academic Quality

  • Strong understanding of academic quality assurance processes, assessment, moderation, and academic integrity.
  • Experience using student performance data and quality metrics to inform improvement initiatives.

Communication

  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to motivate, influence, and collaborate effectively with academic colleagues.

Desirable

  • Experience within a widening participation or diverse student environment.
  • Curriculum development and programme enhancement experience.
  • Active engagement in professional practice, scholarship, or research.
  • Experience working within private higher education providers.
