At the World Bank, a member of the World Bank Group (WBG), you’ll join a diverse, global community working across cultures, disciplines, and borders to address the world’s most pressing development challenges. For more information, visit https://www.worldbank.org/en/who-we-are/ibrd

The WBG People Vice Presidency is responsible for bringing the right public- and private-sector solutions to operational teams and clients and delivering impact at scale. Its mandate is to deliver knowledge for impact to enable and support the WBG to achieve its goals in support of our mission, specifically related to human capital, education and skills, health, social protection and gender, supporting and accelerating specific strategies and targets. The VPU’s objectives in driving outcomes include replicating and scaling effective solutions, enhancing thought leadership and innovation, and delivering timely knowledge to client teams.

The WBG Gender Department, and its two main units (Policy & Regulation (P&R) and Solutions & Impact (S&I)), aim to inspire, connect, support, and deliver alongside teams across the World Bank Group to drive action and impact in accelerating gender equality. It sets the strategic direction to deliver the WBG Gender Strategy 2024-30 and Targets through the WBG’s knowledge agenda, operational approaches, and partnerships. It collaborates across the WBG Gender Network, Verticals, Horizontals, Regions, and Industries to foster and harness the collective expertise of the WBG to deliver innovative, impactful solutions for clients.

A key function of the Department is to accelerate gender equality through analytics, operational support, and innovation. The Results & Innovation Team strengthens data-driven decision-making by improving analytics and reporting systems, and by generating knowledge across Regions and Industries. The team supports implementation of the WBG Gender Strategy, the Gender Equality Scorecard, and all other gender and inclusion indicators. This requires high-quality data management, rigorous validation, and development of innovative tools, including AI-enabled solutions. The ETC will support all aspects of data related to Gender WBG Scorecard results measurement and reporting working closely with the S&I unit, engaging with counterparts in Industries, Regions, Development Impact (CDI), and IT. This work will help ensure that all eligible gender-flagged projects report results disaggregated by sex, disabilities and youth, and that data gaps across the full eligible portfolio are identified and resolved.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Collect, clean, classify, and validate gender-flagged project data to support accurate and timely reporting on the WBG Gender Strategy, WBG Scorecard gender equality indicators, and indicators for other private-sector focused gender products.
  • Serve as the unit’s primary point of contact for missing data requests, quality assurance queries, and indicator verification.
  • Work closely with the S&I and CDI teams to ensure that results from gender-flagged investment and advisory projects are accurately captured in the relevant systems, AIMM Navigator for Investment projects and iPortal for Advisory projects.
  • Identify projects benefiting persons with disabilities and youth and ensure that the related data align with WBG-level reporting requirements.
  • Develop and refine data-tracking and reporting dashboards and contribute to methodological and technical documentation, including data dictionaries and validation notes.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify trends, data gaps, and performance drivers, and support monitoring gender outcomes across portfolios.
  • Help align results-reporting processes and methodologies across the World Bank Group.
  • Develop guidance notes, methodologies, and tools to support consistent, high-quality measurement of gender outcomes across portfolios.

Selection Criteria

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of additional relevant experience.
  • Prior work experience in development impact measurement, corporate reporting, and data quality assurance in an international development or financial institution setting.
  • Strong technical proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and validation, with demonstrated experience coordinating multi-stakeholder reporting processes.
  • Familiarity with IFC/WBG operations, systems, and processes, including iPortal, AIMM Navigator, gender analysis, and Scorecard reporting.
  • Experience developing dashboards, strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools (Power BI preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and validate large, multi-source datasets.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to build productive client relationships and partnerships.
  • Proactive, solution oriented, and strong problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deliverables across reporting cycle.

WBG Culture Attributes

  1. Sense of urgency: Anticipate and quickly respond to the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  2. Thoughtful risk-taking: Challenge the status quo and push boundaries to achieve greater impact.
  3. Empowerment and accountability: Empower yourself and others to act and hold each other accountable for results.
