Duties and Responsibilities

The Office of Human Resources (OHR) in the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC) is conducting a comprehensive job analysis in the UN Secretariat. This is a prerequisite for innovating and adapting ways of attracting, recruiting and nurturing talent, including young and diverse talent. It entails ensuring that generic job profiles used in the United Nations reflect updated and forward-looking responsibilities and the skills needed in the workforce to be fit for the future. These generic job profiles set the parameters for hiring managers to publish job openings. The generic job profiles need to be inclusive and free of bias. OHR has developed a job analysis methodology to support that goal. The Individual Consultant (IC) will support these efforts by providing GJPs with updated responsibilities and the skills required to perform them, enabling the Organization to attract the broadest global talent through inclusive recruitment. The responsibilities include:

  • Conduct job analysis using the GJP 2.0 methodology, in collaboration with Human Resources teams and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Define responsibilities, skills, level differentiation, work interactions, and education and experience requirements for designated areas of work.
  • Map skills to responsibilities and apply the methodology’s quality standards to ensure consistency, coverage and clear differentiation across levels.
  • Use OHR-approved generative AI tools to draft, review and quality-check profile content, applying professional judgement to validate all outputs.
  • Facilitate SME consultations, consolidate input and reconcile differing views.
  • Prepare GJPs ready for classification review and publication.
  • Support the review of change requests to published GJPs.
  • Organize and analyze workstream data to track progress and support decisions.
  • Prepare presentations, briefing notes and progress reports for senior management.
  • Respond to queries from hiring managers, job classification experts, human resources professionals and staff at large about the new GJPs.
  • Document the process and all information needed to develop and maintain GJPs, in the form and manner indicated by OHR.
  • Provide regular updates on progress to the project manager and team members, as needed.
  • Support other Staff Selection 2.0 priorities, as assigned.

A minimum of five years of experience in management consulting, human resources management, organizational development, workforce planning, job analysis, business analysis or a related field is required. Experience working directly with subject matter experts to gather, consolidate and validate content is required Experience organizing and analyzing information in Excel or similar tools to produce clear, structured deliverables is required.
