This position will provide senior-level strategic advisory, project management, and hands-on implementation support for HR Blueprint, while also contributing to broader university-wide HR initiatives. Working closely with executive leadership, central Human Resources, and academic and administrative partners, the successful candidate will bring extensive experience in HRBP implementation, organizational change management, complex project management, HR operational assessment, and organizational design, with a demonstrated ability to translate strategic priorities into effective, sustainable improvements.

CU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment. Who We Are

The Senior Vice Chancellor for Operations (SVCO) oversees CU Boulder's public safety, health and wellness, information technology, human resources, and compliance, ethics and policy efforts.

Vision

CU Boulder will be nationally recognized for its inclusive and innovative learning and working environment.

Mission

SVCO provides creative and sustainable services that enable the CU Boulder community of faculty, staff and students to meet their educational and professional objectives.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Lead and support the implementation of CU Boulder's HR Blueprint initiative, with an immediate focus on completing Phase 1 and planning and implementing Phase 2 of the HR Business Partner (HRBP) model.

  • Review and assess existing HR Blueprint recommendations, work plans, strategies, and consultant deliverables, translating findings into actionable implementation plans with clear achievements, responsibilities, timelines, and measures of success.
  • Partner closely with HR leadership and academic and administrative units to finalize HRBP team structures, strengthen service delivery, navigate organizational change, and address implementation challenges.
  • Provide hands-on project management, partner engagement, and change management support to advance HRBP implementation and ensure sustainable transitions to operational leadership.
  • Support broader university-wide HR transformation and improvement initiatives, including initiative planning, organizational assessment, and implementation of operational improvements.
  • Prepare executive-level analyses, recommendations, progress reports, and implementation plans to inform decisions and track outcomes.
  • Assess HR organizational structures, operations, and service delivery models, developing recommendations to strengthen organizational effectiveness, operational excellence, and accountability.

Position Expectations

The successful candidate will be a strategic problem solver and hands-on leader who brings sound judgment, independence, discretion, and a collaborative approach to complex organizational challenges. This role requires someone willing to engage deeply in the details of HR Blueprint operations, assess existing recommendations and plans, resolve implementation challenges, and guide campus partners through significant organizational change. The individual must be equally comfortable advising executive leadership and working directly with HR teams and campus partners to drive progress, build trust, and deliver measurable results. Success will require both strategic perspective and a willingness to roll up their sleeves to advance the university's transformation toward a more integrated, effective, and service-oriented HR organization.

What You Should Know

  • This is a limited-term appointment, anticipated to last 12-15 months, with the option to extend.
