Assistant / Associate Professor of Professional Mental Health Counseling (tenure-track)
Department of Counseling, Therapy, and School Psychology
Graduate School of Education and Counseling
Lewis & Clark College
The Professional Mental Health Counseling program in the Graduate School of Education and Counseling at Lewis & Clark College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Professional Mental Health Counseling, beginning September 2027.
The Professional Mental Health Counseling program prepares highly skilled, ethical, and compassionate counselors grounded in a deep commitment to social justice. Our approach centers the therapeutic relationship while emphasizing creative and experiential practices and a comprehensive understanding of mental health and human development across the lifespan.
Our CACREP-accredited program offers in-person training delivered year-round, with students typically completing the program within two to three years. Drawing from multiple theoretical perspectives, the curriculum supports students in developing an integrated approach to counseling that is grounded in theory, informed by professional identity, and responsive to the complexities of clinical practice. Students engage in ongoing reflection and growth as they deepen their understanding of how personal experiences, identities, relationships, and broader social contexts shape the therapeutic process. To support this model, faculty in this position are expected to be available throughout the full academic year, though the teaching loads between each semester can vary.
The program fosters a transformative learning environment that prepares graduates with strong clinical knowledge and skills, self-awareness, relational capacity, and a commitment to justice. Graduates are equipped to engage thoughtfully, ethically, and responsibly with the individuals and communities they serve. We seek a colleague with the requisite knowledge and expertise in both mental health and social justice who shares our vision and commitment to these principles.
The Graduate School of Education and Counseling at Lewis & Clark is a collaborative, exceptional community of educators, advocates, and scholars dedicated to transforming lives and promoting social change.
