Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Nano-Optical Science Laboratory at Toyota Technological Institute (Principal Investigator: Associate Professor Tetsuhiro Kudo) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position.
Our laboratory develops novel optical manipulation techniques using laser sources operating in the visible, near-infrared, and mid-infrared regions, together with advanced custom-built microscopy systems. The anticipated starting date is April 2027, although an alternative starting date may be discussed depending on the applicant’s circumstances.
We seek candidates with expertise in areas such as light–matter science, optical physics, photochemistry, nano-optics, plasmonics, and micro- nano-fabrication techniques using cleanroom facilities. Applications from candidates in other related research fields are also welcome.
Since 2020, our laboratory has been conducting research on optical manipulation and optical tweezers using mid-infrared lasers [1–4]. We welcome motivated candidates who are eager to advance this research and develop novel optical manipulation techniques. Potential research topics include:
- Nano mid-infrared optical manipulation and trapping
- Experimental investigation and theoretical analysis of lateral optical forces in the mid-infrared region
- Creation of mid-infrared localized field enhancement through nano-fabricaton techniques, including electron beam lithography

Notes
- In order to secure diverse human resources and enhance the institute's strength and organizational power, we will ensure equal opportunities for participation by foreigners and women in all research fields. In addition, we have established an action plan based on the Law for the Promotion of Women's Advancement and have set a target to increase the ratio of female full-time faculty members and various researchers. We have also created an environment where faculty members can work for a longtime, such as by taking childcare leave.
False statements may result in cancellation of employment or disciplinary action.
- During the screening round, we will verify whether you fall under a specific category as defined by the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act. Upon hiring, you will be required to submit a ''Declaration Regarding Specific Category Applicability." Please be aware that if you fall under a specific category, you will be subject to "deemed export" control, which may impose restrictions on your educational and research activities at this institute.
・If you have been subjected to disciplinary action in the past due to sexual harassment or any other form of sexual violence, Please be sure to include the details of the disciplinary action and the specific reasons for it in your resume or other documents.
