Job Description
The Biology Department at Berry College seeks a tenure-track assistant professor of biology to begin in August 2027. The successful candidate is expected to establish a strong teaching and research program that emphasizes molecular biology. Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in developmental biology and/or those who can utilize Berry's vast and biologically rich campus.
This faculty member will offer courses and research opportunities that help students understand and explore their relationship with the natural world and gain hands-on professional growth and research experiences in molecular biology. The candidate will also serve as a liaison with Berry's Biochemistry program.

The surrounding area extends the opportunities and includes forests, rivers, and other ecosystems that are home to many rare and endemic species. The biology department is known for innovative pedagogy, collaboration across disciplines, and mentorship of students from a wide range of backgrounds. Beyond the department, the successful candidate should also be an active participant in the campus community and interested in mentoring a diverse array of students consistent with the college's commitment to a Good Neighbor Culture.
Duties will include teaching core biology courses to life science majors, an upper-division course in Molecular Biology, and another upper division course within the candidate's area of expertise. In addition to a commitment to high-quality teaching and scholarship, faculty at Berry are expected to involve undergraduates in their research programs, serve as academic advisors, and contribute to the vitality of the residential campus and their professional communities through their service.
Requirements
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in biology, molecular biology, or a closely related discipline. Applicants who are ABD should include documentation that the requirements for the degree will be completed by August 2027.
