ATMP Laboratory Technician
The Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University in Brno hosts the Central European Advanced Therapy and Immunotherapy Centre (CREATIC), established with the support of the Horizon Europe Teaming for Excellence programme in collaboration with Fraunhofer IZI, Leipzig University, and the University of Copenhagen ( www.creatic.muni.cz). The CREATIC Centre of Excellence was officially established in January 2024. The scope of your work will be:
- manufacture of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs), including cell-based, gene therapy and tissue-engineered products, in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles, including aseptic operations in Grade A/B/C/D cleanrooms and compliance with prescribed manufacturing procedures;
- isolation, cultivation, expansion, differentiation and cryopreservation of cells, processing of biological materials and preparation of manufacturing materials;
- performance of laboratory tests and analyses in the fields of cell and molecular biology, immunology and microbiology, including PCR/qPCR methods, immunoassays and assessment of cellular characteristics;
- operation, maintenance, calibration and inspection of laboratory and manufacturing equipment, including in-process controls and quality control;
- maintenance of manufacturing and laboratory documentation, batch records and ensuring the traceability of biological materials, raw materials and finished products;
- working within the GMP quality management system and ensuring compliance with ISO 15189, ISO 17025 and GDP requirements, including documentation of manufacturing processes, handling deviations and non-conformities, CAPA, change control and risk management;
- participation in method validation and verification, equipment qualification, electronic system validation, preparation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and preparation for audits and inspections;
- participation in internal and external quality assessments, interlaboratory comparisons, evaluation of control samples and determination of measurement uncertainty;
- receiving, recording, storing and transporting biological materials, raw materials and manufacturing components, including inventory management, monitoring of storage conditions and cooperation with suppliers;
- collaboration on research and development projects, optimisation of manufacturing and laboratory procedures, and coordination of activities between manufacturing, laboratories, clinical departments and external partners.
Required qualification:
- minimum of secondary education with a school-leaving certificate;
- experience with cell cultures;
- professional qualification as a medical laboratory technician in accordance with Act No. 96/2004 Coll.;
- at least 10 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory;
- excellent command of spoken and written Czech;
- attention to detail, accuracy, a strong sense of responsibility and reliability;
- ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
- good organisational skills and a systematic approach to work;
- strict adherence to work procedures and quality management system requirements;
- effective communication and collaboration across departments;
- flexibility and willingness to learn new methods and technologies;
- proactive approach to quality improvement and professional development.
An advantage:
- specialist qualification in accordance with Act No. 96/2004 Coll. in specialisation codes 801, 813, 818 or 816;
- experience in the manufacture of cell-based therapies.

Type of contract: 1-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of further extension
Job type: Full-time or part-time by agreement
Gross Salary: 40 000 – 48 000 CZK (for full-time employment – a proportional amount for part-time employment)
