Job Location: Gateway House
Full-time/Part-time: Full-time
Employee Weekly Hours: 37.00
Maximum Salary: 56,535.00 GBP
Minimum Salary: 39,906.00 GBP

The Role:

Are you an experienced pharmacist who is passionate about developing the next generation of prescribing professionals? Whether your expertise comes from current clinical prescribing practice or from teaching and supporting healthcare professionals in academia, we are looking for individuals who can inspire and educate future prescribers. If this sounds like you, the Leicester School of Pharmacy would love to hear from you.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking pharmacist to join our academic team and play a key role in preparing pharmacy students for contemporary clinical practice and prescribing responsibilities. As an experienced pharmacist, you will help students develop the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required for safe and effective prescribing. You will contribute to teaching across our MPharm programme, supporting students to build competence in clinical assessment, consultation skills, clinical reasoning, therapeutic decision-making, interpretation of patient records and investigations, shared decision-making, and safe prescribing practice.

Working within a supportive and innovative team, you will deliver undergraduate teaching, facilitate clinical skills and prescribing workshops, support assessment and curriculum development, and provide academic and professional support to students. There may also be opportunities to contribute to postgraduate teaching and continuing professional development programmes.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of pharmacy practice, enabling pharmacists from both clinical and academic backgrounds to share their expertise, inspire learners, and support the development of the next generation of confident, patient-centred prescribers.

About De Montfort University (DMU)

DMU is a vibrant, globally minded institution located in the heart of Leicester. We pride ourselves on our commitment to the public good and our Empowering University strategy.

Faculty / Directorate

Home to four specialist schools—Allied Health Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and the Leicester School of Pharmacy—the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences educates professionals who make a significant difference to health, wellbeing and society. With a history of pharmacy education spanning more than 115 years, the Leicester School of Pharmacy is one of the UK's most established and respected schools of pharmacy.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). An Independent Prescribing qualification and current prescribing practice are desirable, but not essential. Applicants with relevant clinical expertise and a strong understanding of current pharmacy practice will be able to draw upon their professional experience to bring authentic, patient-focused examples into their teaching.

While experience of teaching in Higher Education is desirable, it is not essential. We welcome applicants who are enthusiastic about education and willing to develop their teaching expertise. At the Leicester School of Pharmacy, we place a high value on academic citizenship, collaborative working, and activities that enhance the student experience. This is an exciting opportunity to influence pharmacy education and make a meaningful contribution to the future of the profession.
