Job Description
The School of AI and Liberal Arts (SAI) at BNBU invites applications for 1 full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Computer Science, spanning the following specialisation areas:
- AI for Science (Applied Mathematics & Computer Science)
- Agentic AI (Autonomous AI Systems & Large Language Models)
- AI & Security
- HW-SW Codesign for LLM
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Python Programming, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Probability and Statistics, Machine Learning, and courses related to agentic AI, cybersecurity, or hardware-software co-design.
- Contribute to SAI’s transdisciplinary programmes and the university-wide Introduction to AI Literacy course.
- Conduct internationally recognised research and publish in high-quality venues.
- Contribute to programme development, student supervision (including Final Year Projects), and school administrative duties as required.
Job Requirement
Education:
PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related scientific discipline from a recognized university.
Experience:
- Demonstrable research track record with publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals or top-tier conferences.
- University-level teaching experience preferred.
- Industry or applied research experience in AI systems, security, or hardware/ software design is an advantage.
Preferred Specialisation Areas (candidates may cover one or more):
- AI for Science: applied mathematics, scientific computing, algorithms, data structures, programming languages, or computational methods.
- Agentic AI: autonomous agents, multi-agent systems, large language models (LLMs), reinforcement learning, or AI workflow automation.
- AI & Security / HW-SW Codesign for LLM: AI system security, trustworthy AI, hardware-software co-design for LLM deployment, or embedded AI systems.
Language:
Proficiency in English for teaching and research (the medium of instruction at BNBU is English); working knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is an advantage.
Other:
Strong commitment to teaching excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration; demonstrated ability to contribute to curriculum development in an emerging AI education environment.
Benefits and Appointment Terms
Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave and social insurance. Appointments to these positions will initially be made on a fixed-term contract with mutual agreement.
