At the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster, a
Professorship (W3-level) for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (with leadership function)
is to be filled at the earliest possible date.
The position is associated with the directorship of the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. The
position holder represents the field of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in patient care, research, and
teaching in full scope.
We are seeking a scientifically and clinically distinguished personality who will further develop the
Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in close alignment with the research strategy of the Medical
Faculty and, in particular, with the Body & Brain Institute. An internationally visible profile in
mechanistic, translational, and data-driven psychiatry is expected. Particular emphasis should be
placed on the scientific leadership of large, deeply phenotyped clinical or population-based cohorts
that combine longitudinal clinical outcome and treatment information with multimodal neuroimaging
and neurophysiological methods. A systems neuroscience approach is desired that investigates
mental disorders at the level of structural and functional brain networks and relates clinical
phenotypes, disease trajectories, and treatment response to one another. In addition, experience
with quantitative analysis methods and connectomics-based approaches is of interest. Furthermore,
the ability to connect these approaches with questions of course and treatment prediction
as well as with intervention-related methods, including non-invasive brain stimulation, is desirable.
The future clinic director should combine this profile with the existing local strengths and further
strengthen interdisciplinary collaborative research in Münster.
A multi-year activity in a leadership position is required. Proven experience in the implementation,
evaluation, and sustainable establishment of evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic standards,
as well as responsibility for challenging clinical, ethical, and personnel decisions, is expected.
This also includes coordination and cooperation at the management level with responsible authorities
and healthcare providers in the region. Broad clinical leadership experience and the management
of multidisciplinary and multi-professional teams in various university or comparable institutions
is desirable.
We are looking for a cooperative individual with an interdisciplinary approach to thinking and action,
with the competence to successfully lead the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. Strong
communication skills, both internally and externally, as well as organizational skills, are required.
An innovative, comprehensive teaching concept and special/particular experience in teaching are
expected.
The applicant must be a board-certified specialist in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. Applicants
from abroad must have a medical license to practice in Germany or meet the requirements for obtaining
one, as well as possess a qualification that enables recognition as a specialist in Psychiatry
and Psychotherapy in Germany. The Medical Faculty desires active collaboration with the faculty‘s
existing research foci at the site, current and future research networks, the University Research and
Treatment Centers, as well as with related disciplines.
Prerequisites for an application are scientific achievements attained as part of a junior Professorship,
habilitation or occupation as a research associate at a university or non-university facility. We
refer to further prerequisites mentioned in the University Act, § 36.
Professors with responsibilities in patient care are generally employed in a private-law employment
relationship (exceptions are possible if the applicant already held a tenured professorship in
pay grade C4/C3/W3/W2). The tasks associated with the professorship in patient care are regulated
in a separate contract with the University Hospital Münster.
