The SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY & BIOCHEMISTRY at the GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY seeks a permanent instructional faculty member to coordinate an undergraduate inorganic/organic chemistry laboratory course and teach undergraduate inorganic and organic chemistry lecture courses. The appointment will be made at either the Academic Professional or Senior Academic Professional level. The position will have lead responsibility for the development of course content and pedagogy in their laboratory course and serve as part of the department’s undergraduate advisement team. This is a permanent position with both academic instructional and administrative responsibilities. Academic Professional faculty at Georgia Tech are non-tenure track, academic faculty with a well-defined promotion path. Credit towards promotion can be given for prior relevant experience. We strongly encourage applicants with interests in evidence-based instructional methods and chemistry education research. Please note that this is an instructional position, which does not have access to research laboratory space or equipment, and that there is no expectation of research or grant funding.
The instructional workload on hire will be one 3-credit lecture course in each of the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters, and the coordination of a 3-credit advanced synthesis (inorganic and organic) laboratory course in both the Fall and Spring semesters. This laboratory course is taken by ~40 chemistry majors each academic year. Academic advisement of 40 – 50 undergraduate Chemistry and Biochemistry majors is also expected.
Application review will begin on December 1, 2026, and continue until the position is filled. A start date between July 1 and August 1 in 2027 is desired. A Ph.D. in chemistry with relevant interest and experience is required. A letter of application, CV, a statement of teaching interests and philosophy, and a statement of mentoring philosophy should be submitted via Georgia Tech’s Employment website.
