The IAM-AWP conducts research into and develops metallic and non-metallic materials as well as their composites. Relationships between structure, microstructure and properties are investigated from a materials physics perspective using a wide range of modern methods of experimental analysis or simulation. The behaviour of materials in components, coatings and structural parts is also examined.

- Performing calculations using the expanded database
- Experimental validation notably by means of (but not restricted to) thermal analysis (DSC, DTA)
- Development of models to describe the material´s behaviour
- Reporting to the funding body
- Publication and presentation in prestigious journals and on international conferences, rerspectively
Your Profile
You have the following qualifications:
- A university degree (Diploma (University)/Master's) in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or comparable with an overall mark of 2.0 or better (or corresponding)
- A particular interest in both theoretical and experimental materials science as well as in pursuing a PhD in an engineering discipline
- Ideally, first experience with software for thermodynamic alloy modelling
- And/or methods of experimental material science at high temperature (≥ 1000 °C)
- A good command of spoken and written English
