St Anne's College is one of the University of Oxford's largest colleges, with a community of more than 800 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Set in five acres on Woodstock Road, the College combines academic ambition with an independent-minded, down-to-earth and inclusive culture. Its origins lie in the Society of Oxford Home-Students, established in 1879 to open an Oxford education to women of all faiths and from a wider range of financial circumstances. That commitment to academic excellence, widening opportunity and engagement with the world beyond Oxford continues to shape St Anne's today.
The Governing Body is now seeking an outstanding Principal to provide academic, strategic and community leadership and to represent St Anne's within Oxford and beyond. Working collaboratively with Fellows, students and professional staff, the Principal will help shape the College's long-term strategy, sustain its distinctive culture, chair the Governing Body, oversee sound financial and operational management, and support fundraising and external engagement. This is a full time appointment.
Candidates may come from a wide range of senior leadership backgrounds and will bring intellectual credibility, strategic judgement, broad financial understanding and experience of leading people and organisations through complexity. They will be inclusive, authentic and approachable, able to build trust and consensus across a collegiate community, and strongly committed to academic excellence, intellectual independence, equality, inclusion, opportunity and student welfare.
