About the Role
We are looking to appoint a Lecturer to design and deliver excellent education for students in the field of Software Engineering with a primary focus on students enrolled on our Degree Apprenticeship Programmes.
In 2015, QMUL became one of the first HE Institutions in the UK to deliver Degree Apprenticeships. The Faculty of Science and Engineering, with our partners from Newham College and the London City Institute of Technology, has been instrumental in the delivery and innovation since this time, providing programmes to a diverse range of employers.
About You
This role emphasises student education and aims to recruit individuals passionate about ensuring students gain employability and relevant industrial skills. Degree apprentices apply their learning directly within their professional context, making applied, practice-based teaching an important part of this Lecturer role, connecting academic concepts and theory with real workplace scenarios.
You should be working towards or having completed a PhD in Computer Science (or related fields), or have equivalent professional experience, in fields aligned to Software Engineering. You should excel in communicating new and complex information to students, understanding support needs, and providing guidance when necessary.
About the School
The School of Physical and Chemical Sciences (SPCS) at QMUL is a large, multidisciplinary and research-intensive school within the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
The School has a diverse and active community, with over 900 undergraduate students, more than 100 postgraduate taught students, around 115 postgraduate researchers, and approximately 150 academic and professional staff. It offers a supportive and stimulating environment supported by a highly collaborative culture, working across faculties and with industry partners and external stakeholders.
SPCS is primarily based at the Mile End campus in the G.O. Jones and J. Priestley buildings, with teaching also delivered at the London City Institute of Technology.
