Position Summary
The Department of Poultry Science at the University of Georgia is seeking applicants for a Lecturer in Comparative Biomedical and One Health Sciences. The position is a nine-month academic-year promotable track position with a 95% Teaching and 5% Service appointment. The primary responsibility of this position is undergraduate teaching. Research responsibilities are not required. Teaching assignments will focus primarily on supporting the Avian Biology and Biological Sciences undergraduate majors through instruction in foundational biological science and pre-health coursework. Course examples could include comparative anatomy/physiology, health related diagnostics, comparative and ecological adaptation, animal agriculture and public health, amongst others supportive of campus wide efforts to pre-health majors. Additional courses are needed to be developed to expand One Health/pre-health instruction and could include that of the use of animals as biological models for animal health, animal well-being assessment, human-animal interactions in health and disease and/or ecological issues relevant to One Health.
The teaching assignment will remain flexible to accommodate evolving curricular needs and enrollment growth. Full-time lecturer track positions at UGA are expected to ultimately teach a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 24 credit hours per academic year.
The lecturer will work closely with faculty across multiple colleges to develop innovative instructional approaches, strengthen experiential learning opportunities, promote student engagement in undergraduate research, and prepare students for admission to professional healthcare and graduate programs.
