Assistant Professor- Chemistry

Essential functions (job duties):
The Department of Chemistry at Wayne State University (https://clas.wayne.edu/chemistry) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Organic Chemistry, broadly defined, with a focus on interdisciplinary biomedical research. The expected start date is August 18. 2027. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible academic year (9-month) faculty position.
Job duties
- Conduct research in any broadly defined contemporary analytical or organic chemistry area, with a focus on interdisciplinary biomedical research.
- Teach Chemistry courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Publish research results in leading peer-reviewed journals.
- Aggressively seek external funding to support the research program.
- Direct graduate students’ research and thesis work.
- Assume department, college, and university duties are consistent with and appropriate for good faculty citizenship.
Qualifications:
Education: Ph.D. in a field of specialization or related area.
Experience: Research experience that indicates the ability to maintain a high profile, fundable, and contemporary research program. Research publications in leading journals appropriate to the discipline.
