Work for the IMF. Work for the World.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in-house content team is looking for a dynamic, motivated creative professional to join our award-winning group. The mission? To bring the story of the International Monetary Fund to life, and to the world.

Under the general supervision of the Section Chief of the Digital Content and Production Section, Creative Solutions Division, (CSF), the Senior Media Officer serves as a senior creative lead and subject matter expert within the Section. Beyond leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team of creative talent, the incumbent sets the creative direction across multiple products and content types, guides day-to-day creative production activities, and partners with Section and Division leadership to shape priorities, ensuring successful project delivery and impact.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a creative lead and provide day-to-day guidance within the Section, contributing to the creative vision and standards of excellence, guiding and mentoring designers, motion graphic artists, and illustrators. Ensuring that all work is strategic, on-brand, and delivered with impact.
  • Lead the adoption of AI in the creative workflow by staying at the forefront of AI and creative software developments, assessing their relevance to production, piloting and proposing practical use cases, and demonstrating how they can deliver measurable efficiency gains, higher quality, and stronger creative output across the Section and Division.
  • Inspire and unite a multi-disciplinary team of designers, motion artists, writers, and producers to conceive, direct, and deliver executive-level multimedia keynote presentations that captivate global audiences and bring the IMF’s story to life.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to identify visual needs and shape creative briefs that drive strategic, high-impact content.
  • Direct the design and visual impact of campaign materials, environmental graphics, web/social media assets, and digital/print publications, ensuring excellence and consistency across all channels.
  • Coordinate project talent, assign individual responsibilities, and acquire the resources needed to deliver projects successfully.
  • Provide performance feedback to vendor managers, peers and freelancers.
  • Be a guardian of IMF Brand and ensure all artwork produced in Creative follows brand guidelines and recommend changes where necessary. Ensure clients/suppliers are aware of the IMF Brand guidelines.
  • Assist the Section Chief in building and maintaining a network of freelancers across diverse disciplines (designers, motion graphic artists and illustrators), vet talent recommended by vendors and onboard full-time vendor talent to ensure brand and institutional compliance.
  • Take ownership of the assigned projects, processes, and deliverables. Manage project plans, schedules, costs, and stakeholder communication. Facilitate client conversations and lead projects from inception to delivery.
  • Participate in the development of Statements of Work for creative services and staffing contracts and assist with competitive procurement processes (RFPs).
  • Act as a Creative Strategist and actively engage with client departments to build relationships with client contacts and contribute to planning and determining priorities and establish annual work plans with Team Leads, Media Officers and Project Managers.
  • Serve as a liaison for Creative Solutions to Departmental and Fund-wide initiatives and task forces.

Qualification, Skills and Experience

Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree in design, marketing, communications or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience; or a bachelor’s degree supplemented by a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional work experience, is required.

  • Experience working at an in-house or external creative agency, creative studio or similar environment.
  • Experience leading the use of Gen-AI tools to create content, streamline production, and drive efficiencies.
  • Experience leading change management and driving the adoption of new tools and workflows, guiding teams and stakeholders through transitions to achieve lasting improvements in productivity and creative output.
  • Experience producing deliverables for complex live events and multimedia experiences.
  • Experience directing and producing large environmental set pieces and executive-level multimedia keynote presentations.
  • Deep knowledge of creative processes and fundamentals across design, video, motion graphics, and other forms of multimedia content.
  • Technical proficiency in a wide range of publishing, graphics, and project management operating systems and software applications e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Workfront, etc.
  • Proven track record of successfully building, leading, and inspiring multi-talented creative teams.
  • Strong presentation skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and stakeholder and client relationship management skills are essential.
  • A strategic thinker with a passion for innovation, creative problem solving, and new ideas.

A regular staff member who is selected to fill the vacancy will maintain their open-ended status. If the selected candidate is a contractual employee, they will be offered a Term staff appointment.
