The earliest start date for the position will be November 2020. </p>\n\n\n<p>The appointment has a duration of 2 years.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Project Description </strong></p>\n\n\n<p>The cross-disciplinary project <strong>Nano-Medicine Initiative: Functional Nanoparticles in Medicine</strong>, funded by NTNU Health, NTNU Rectorate, Faculty of Natural Sciences (NV) and Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (MH) aims to synthesize and tailor-make nanoparticles for a wide range of biomedical applications including diagnostic testing of various diseases such as microbial infections, cardiovascular disease and cancer by detection of antibodies, proteins, nucleic acids and metabolites. The focus is to develop real-time high throughput strategies for diagnosis. The technology developed in these projects can also be applied in other sectors such as agriculture, aqua culture and food industry. The project further aims to develop understanding of the growth mechanisms of nanoparticles in batch and continuous processes to obtain a better control of particle size and size distribution. </p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Thematic Area:</strong> Functionalization of nanoparticles for isolation, detection and testing of proteins and nucleic acids (RNA and DNA). </p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Duties of the position</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Functionalization of magnetic nanoparticles for isolation or detection of antibodies, proteins, and nucleic acids (RNA and DNA). </li>\n<li>Develop and optimize surface properties for diagnostic tests and research tools. </li>\n<li>The candidate is expected to participate actively in the group activities, including mentoring and co-supervision of students. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.</p>\n\n\n<p>The period of employment is 2 years.</p>\n\n\n<p>The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU.
