{"job":{"jobId":1210295,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":1834,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Professor/Associate Professor in Marine Machinery Systems/Marine Engineering","description":"\n\n<p><strong>About the position</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>We have a vacancy for a Professor / Associate Professor position within Marine Machinery Systems at Department of Marine Technology.</p>\n\n\n<p>The professorship is concerned with teaching and research within marine machinery systems with a special focus on the marine combustion engine. Currently this includes both applied and fundamental research on low emission high efficiency marine engines and engine system concepts, alternative and future fuels as well as exhaust gas cleaning using scrubbers and SCR-systems. How to contribute towards a future tightly integrated flexible sustainable power plant for marine propulsion at different operations and for different ship types is assumed to be a key research topic for the position.</p>\n\n\n<p>It is required that the qualified candidate have demonstrated and is interested in further developing an interest in combining experimental and simulation-based work. The professorship will have a special responsibility for activities in our marine engine and marine machinery systems laboratory.</p>\n\n\n<p>In general, the research focus of the research group is system oriented involving methods for design and performance evaluation, system optimization, system integration and operation. It is therefore required that the candidate should be able to complement the existing group on these matters.</p>\n\n\n<p>You will report to the Head of Department at Department of Marine Technology and also be affiliated to the Centre for Researcher-led Innovation SFI Smart Maritime.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Duties of the position</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The candidate will be responsible for teaching a maximum of two courses per year and supervising approximately 4-8 MSc candidates.</li>\n<li>The candidate is also expected to build a research portfolio and be able to initiate research projects and funding for PhD students and Post-Docs from funding bodies and industry.</li>\n<li>Collaboration with SINTEF and/or other relevant companies is expected. There is also an expectation that our professors engage in administrative work related to managing teaching and research and running the department.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required selection criteria</strong></p>\n\n\n<p><u><strong>Professor:</strong></u></p>\n\n\n<p>The position of Professor within Marine Machinery Systems requires that you meet the criteria in the <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://lovdata.no/dokument/SFE/forskrift/2006-02-09-129/%C2%A7section1-2#%C2%A7section1-2\" rel=\"no-follow\">Regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts section 1-2</a>. </p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Have a PhD in Marine or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant for the position.</li>\n<li>Have an extensive and original academic production relevant for the Marine Machinery area of research.</li>\n<li>Can document scientific work within one or more of the subject areas of the position: Low emission high efficiency marine engines and engine system concepts, alternative fuels, exhaust gas cleaning and design of future flexible sustainable power plants for marine applications.</li>\n<li>Have experience in combining experimental and simulation methodology in research relevant for the position.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p>In addition to formal qualifications in teaching at university level, you must document</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>development in teaching and counselling of students over time</li>\n<li>extensive experience with supervision preferably at the master / PhD level</li>\n<li>participation in the development of educational quality in a work environment</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><u><strong>Associate Professor:</strong></u></p>\n\n\n<p>The position of Associate Professor within Marine Machinery Systems requires that you meet the criteria in the <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://lovdata.no/dokument/SFE/forskrift/2006-02-09-129/%C2%A7section1-4#%C2%A7section1-4\" rel=\"no-follow\">Regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts section 1-4</a>. </p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Have a PhD in Marine or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant for the position.</li>\n<li>Can document work experience at a senior level within the field of research for the position</li>\n<li>Can document scientific work within at least one of the subject areas as for the professor.</li>\n<li>Have experience in combining experimental and simulation methodology in research relevant for the position.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Preferred selection criteria (both positions)</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>You will be expected to deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and undertake supervision of Masters and Doctoral candidates. Evaluation of these skills will be based on documented experience and relevant teaching qualifications. Applicants with teaching experience at university level are preferred.
