{"job":{"jobId":1211713,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":5655,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Manager of Center of Entrepreneurship","description":"\n\n<p><strong>Department: </strong>The School of Professional and Continuing Education\n<strong>Duty station: </strong>Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic\n<strong>Deadline: </strong>04 October 2020</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Summary of Position and Key Responsibilities</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>The School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) is one of the three schools at UCA that fosters community engagement by offering a wide range of non-degree courses and programs to a broad spectrum of students. SPCE programmes meet the immediate and emerging needs of communities for skills and qualification for employment and occupational and education mobility. It has played an important role in improving the livelihoods and living conditions of people of the region.</p>\n\n\n<p>AKF/UCA is currently implementing Local Impact project consisting of two inter-connected programs of Energy Plus (EP) and Future of Work (FOW) that are addressing regional investment in skills for the future. The strategic goal of this project is to mobilize demand for youth workers, support youth businesses and alternative forms of work, thus investing in future skills required by the youth at national and local levels.</p>\n\n\n<p>It is envisioned that a Center for Entrepreneurship (CE) will be established under the Local Impact Project, focusing on the socio-economic development of the region, refinement of business ideas and support of the regulatory framework for the support of business service delivery. The CE aims at refining/clarifying business ideas and creating an open public dialogue with potential entrepreneurs for the development and launch of new businesses. The goal of CE is to inspire and transform the community into entrepreneurial thinkers and business creators.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Main Duties and Responsibilities </strong></p>\n\n\n<p>The key responsibilities of the Manager will be to establish the Center for Entrepreneurship, hire relevant personnel and develop plans for identification of potential entrepreneurs and businesses that can be supported through training and development to grow and prosper. The Manager will oversee the execution of the project in accordance with the approved Workplan, conduct trainings and developing strategies for capacity building in entrepreneurship. Manager of CE will oversee professional development of entrepreneurs, development of financial plans and financial forecasts, prepare reports, monitoring the project and oversee development of a strategical plan of 20 incubated business ideas.</p>\n\n\n<p>The Manager will develop in-depth knowledge of local conditions and work closely with local business for their support in sales, marketing, and other areas. The Manager will also be liaising with the local government to seek new areas for development and investment and identify potential new channels for growth.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications and Experience</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>University degree in the area of management, business/economy or related field;</li>\n<li>At least 5 years of work experience in business development and entrepreneurship;</li>\n<li>Good understanding of the existing business principals, strategies, and legislation in the area of Custom Union, community development and capacity building and in liaising with Government officials;</li>\n<li>At least 2 years in conducting trainings and workshops employing a participatory approach;</li>\n<li>Experience in project/programme management and coordination with international agencies;</li>\n<li>Professional report writing skills;</li>\n<li>Knowledge of gender equality issues and skills on gender analysis of policy documents;</li>\n<li>At least 3 to 5 years of experience in sales/marketing and business management;</li>\n<li>Experience with mentoring and helping take business ideas to fruition would be preferred;</li>\n<li>Experience in providing consultancy support in fields of entrepreneurship, innovation, business incubation.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Score of work:</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Provide advice through experts for business development of entrepreneurial ventures;</li>\n<li>Develop and enhance institutional/organisational capacity/ability of target groups through:</li>\n<li>Training and professional growth of local start-ups and existing business ideas;</li>\n<li>Mentoring coaching and on-site counselling;</li>\n<li>Study tours/masterclasses, exchanging best practice experience in the relevant fields;</li>\n<li>Organizing expert groups and workshops in collaboration with local entrepreneurs and local government (developing agenda, list of participants for the training workshops, and preparing discussion points, etc.);</li>\n<li>Drafting workplans, budgets, TORs of programs/trainings, reports, and other project documents (as requested);</li>\n<li>Organizing workshops, and expert group meetings supporting business incubation:</li>\n<li>Guiding business ideas from idea to prototype to market launch;</li>\n<li>Provide business incubation, acceleration and mentoring services to start-ups and innovators;</li>\n<li>Provide consultancy support in fields of entrepreneurship, innovation, business incubation, science, technology, and SME development;</li>\n<li>Monitor research, report, and disseminate trends in technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship related issues;</li>\n<li>Provide training, HR development, mentoring and other services in these fields;</li>\n<li>Engage with potential investors with the aim/goal of investing in ideas incubated at the Center of Entrepreneurship;</li>\n<li>Actively pursue all ideas to enhance sustainability of the Center for Entrepreneurship;</li>\n<li>Liaise with national & international partners and other project beneficiaries to promote the project and training activities;</li>\n<li>Liaise with relevant AKDN agencies; UCA, AKF KG and Accelerate Prosperity (AP), etc. to support implementation of project activities;</li>\n<li>Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Planned Activities under the Local Impact project:</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Commissioning of the Centre;</li>\n<li>Formal Opening of the Centre;</li>\n<li>Development of courses;</li>\n<li>Training of instructors;</li>\n<li>Selection of participants;</li>\n<li>Provision of first training cycles and incubation activities.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Activities to be launched:</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Startup Weekend;</li>\n<li>Business Model Competition;</li>\n<li>Ideas Dating, Hackathons;</li>\n<li>Program to polish business ideas;</li>\n<li>Incubation Program including development of relevant curriculum and teaching materials.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Languages:</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Advanced proficiency in spoken and written English</li>\n<li>Knowledge of other Central Asian languages (Kyrgyz, Tajik, Kazakh) would be a bonus.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p>Candidates from the founding countries of UCA: Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan are encouraged to apply for the position.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>How to Apply</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Please send a cover letter, CV and contact information for three references to hr.recruitment@ucentralasia.org by October 4, 2020.
