The Office of Library Communications is responsible for developing and executing strategic communications initiatives in support of Princeton University Library's strategic priorities. The Communications Specialist will work closely with staff members throughout the Library as well as with members of the Princeton University community. This position requires flexibility, diplomacy, creativity, and the ability to work under pressure with a diverse community.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate and develop social media postings and campaigns that support communications strategies</li>\n<li>Prepare social media analytics reports to measure engagement</li>\n<li>Coordinate social media efforts with campus communications partners, including University Communications central office</li>\n<li>In collaboration with Library Communications Team, develop editorial calendar</li>\n<li>Write stories and publish on Library website and other channels</li>\n<li>Draft internal announcements as assigned and distribute to PUL staff</li>\n<li>Develop and execute publicity plans in collaboration with Library Communications team, librarians, other staff, and campus partners</li>\n<li>Coordinate video production, storage, and access as needed</li>\n<li>Gather internal news and information; update staff intranet site, Connecting</li>\n<li>Provide media relations, including drafting press releases</li>\n<li>Serve on Library committees as requested</li>\n<li>Provide news watch service: Monitor campus and external media for articles/social about or mentioning PUL</li>\n<li>Participate in event planning and coordination as needed (virtual and in-person; some evening and weekend work required)</li>\n<li>Other communications duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or other related subject</li>\n<li>Minimum of 3-5 years experience</li>\n<li>Demonstrated strong social media experience</li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of social media and Google analytics; ability to track and report stats</li>\n<li>Must be a strategic critical thinker with ability to assimilate and convey conceptually complex information in a succinct and compelling way, tailored to different audiences</li>\n<li>Demonstrated strong writing skills, including journalistic articles and press release experience</li>\n<li>Ability to multitask and set priorities to meet deadlines</li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of WordPress or similar CMS</li>\n<li>Knowledge of html, Drupal</li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of MailChimp or similar email marketing platform</li>\n<li>Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and online video applications a plus</li>\n<li>Ability to work in fast-paced, open office environment</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p>Princeton University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Other distinguished graduates include Michelle Obama, actors Jimmy Stewart and Brooke Shields, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Apollo astronaut Pete Conrad.</p><p> </p><p>Princeton, which is consistently ranked among the world’s top 10 universities, is renowned for its campus’ park-like beauty as well as some of its landmark buildings, designed by some of America’s most well-known architects. For instance, its Lewis Library was designed by Frank Gehry and contains many of the university’s science collections. Its McCarter Theatre Center has won a Tony Award for the best regional theatre in the country.</p><p>Spread across 500 acres, the Princeton campus has about 180 buildings, including 10 libraries containing about 14 million holdings. It is popular with visitors, with about 800,000 people visiting its open campus each year, generating about $2 billion in revenue.</p><p>The Princeton area, which has a population of about 30,000 residents, is also something of a destination itself, with many attracted by its tree-lined streets and wide variety of shops, restaurants and parks.</p><p> </p><p>The university is within easy reach of both New York City and Philadelphia, with the “Dinky” shuttle train providing a regular service lasting about one hour to both cities.
