Expertise is required in the specific area of thoracic transplantation with focus in lung transplant and ECMO. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. They must also be certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or eligible for such certification.</p>\n\n\n<p>Teaching responsibilities may include instruction of medical students and residents in the operating room, outpatient clinic and on inpatient rounds.</p>\n\n\n<p>Clinical responsibilities may include in- and out-patient care of patients undergoing lung transplantation and ECMO.</p>\n\n\n<p>Research or scholarship responsibilities may include development of clinical and/or basic science research projects on topics in the field of transplantation and / or MCS.</p>\n\n\n<p>Applicants with a strong academic background will be preferred, as will those who have completed a transplantation / MCS fellowship or hold previous experience in the field. Approval to do non-transplant cardiothoracic or thoracic surgical procedures will be offered based on applicants’ experience and interest and the decision of the Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery. The successful candidate will be a member of Penn's Division of Cardiovascular Surgery and will practice primarily at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He or she will be instrumental in the expansion of one of the busiest thoracic transplant and ECMO programs in the country.</p>\n\n\n<p>We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense.
