If you’re curious, motivated, want to be part of a unique community, and help shape the future – then take a look at this opportunity.</b></p>\n\n\n<p><strong>SENIOR LEADERSHIP GIVING OFFICER</strong>, <em>School of Engineering (SoE)-Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE)</em>, to create and execute a comprehensive strategic development plan designed to raise financial support and awareness for DMSE. Will manage, build, and execute successful fund-raising strategies for a mature portfolio (including core team), creating individualized solicitation plans leading to major and principal gifts in support of MIT's fund-raising priorities, capital projects, and other departmental priorities. Responsibilities include collaborating with DMSE department head, key faculty and investigators, administrative officer, and events/communications staff to increase DMSE visibility and establish a thriving community of supporters, including philanthropic and industry partnerships; building, managing, and collaborating on a portfolio of donors and industry prospects; collaborating with MIT’s central prospect management teams and Office of Corporate Relations and SoE resource development colleagues to identify and engage prospective donors and industry partners; taking part in face-to-face donor/industry partner/prospect visits; arranging faculty meetings, site tours, and events; drafting high-level proposals for six-, seven-, and eight-figure gifts; creating DMSE-related materials and disseminating content and collateral; strategically orchestrating meetings and other interactions between faculty/staff with prospects/donors/industry partners; helping maximize the department head’s/faculty travel to engage with prospective donors and industry partners; and keeping all relevant donor/prospect records updated. </p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Job Requirements</strong></p>\n\n\n<p><strong><em>REQUIRED</em>: </strong>bachelor’s degree (MBA/M.S. preferred), preferably in an engineering or scientific field; five years’ direct fund-raising experience, preferably in a higher education organization; excellent interpersonal, organizational, project-management, time-management, and written and oral communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects with confidentiality and discretion; and high-level proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
