(an independent entity within the Thales group) and Cranfield University.
\n
The project will focus on development of innovative fully digital multi-functional holographic radar platform that will offer customers a flexible, high performance and cost-effective solution for continuous surveillance in a wide range of applications.
\n
You will be based at Aveillant’s office at Impington, Cambridge, as part of an Agile multi-disciplinary team of professional radar developers at Aveillant and a team of skilled academics at Cranfield’s Centre for Autonomous and Cyber-Physical Systems.
\n
Your role will lead the development of software algorithms and digital architectures that draw from the latest ideas from the fields of signal processing, artificial intelligence and big data processing to develop a game-changing novel radar platform that will be a step away from traditional radar approaches and thinking where business-as-usual has not fundamentally evolved for decades.
\n
This role requires knowledge of signal processing that is utilized for signal detection and classification in relevant areas (e.g. in radar/communication/measurement systems) and MATLAB or Python programming skills. Previous experience of development and application of signal processing algorithms for radar/communication/measurement systems (or other systems with non-stationary signals in presence of noise/interference) is essential.
\n
You will have excellent project and time management skills, and the ability to work independently and to communicate complex information clearly.
\n
You will hold a postgraduate level degree (MSc or above) in a signal processing related subject, e.g. for radar, sonar or communication systems, or, preferably, a PhD in one of these areas. An MSc in corresponding areas may be considered providing that sufficient level of knowledge and experience in the relevant areas of signal processing and radar/sonar systems can be demonstrated. The successful appointment will be subject to the appropriate level of security clearance.
\n
For an informal discussion, please contact (CU Supervisor) Dr. Ivan Petrunin, Lecturer in Digital Signal Processing for Autonomous Systems, on +44 (0)1234 75 8262 or +44 (0)1234 750111 Ext. 8262 or e-mail to i.petrunin@cranfield.ac.uk.
\n
At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential. We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role.
\n
This partnership received financial support from the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) programme.
