{"job":{"jobId":1310470,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":462,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Life Science Research Professional 1","description":"\n\n<p>The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking an Life Science Research Professional 1 for the Andrew Lab to perform basic functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct and analyze experiments. Andrews’ team is developing and testing novel tools that utilize microbial whole-genome sequences to identify chains of transmission between individuals. Andrews proposes to work with local hospitals and the state and county health departments to perform whole-genome sequencing on all COVID-19-positive samples and apply these methods in real-time to characterize transmission chains and help guide public health investigations.</p>\n\n\n<p><b>Duties include: </b></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory.</li>\n<li>Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.</li>\n<li>Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with senior researcher.</li>\n<li>Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research.</li>\n<li>Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals.</li>\n<li>Help with general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed.</li>\n<li>Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><i>*- The job duties listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification and are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities. Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.</i> </p>\n\n\n<p><b>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: </b></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry or related field</li>\n<li>Experience or equivalent training with PCR, real-time PCR, ELISA.</li>\n<li>Excellent analytic and problem solving abilities.</li>\n<li>Skills in descriptive analysis, and modeling of data.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><b>EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):</b></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor's degree in related scientific field.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><b>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):</b></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>General understanding of scientific principles.
