S/He will work toward building relationships with faculty, and with grateful patients, grateful patient families, alumni, non-alumni, and friends of the school and university with an ultimate goal to secure gifts in support of the faculty, programs, and facilities within the departments. A creative and energetic fundraiser, the Associate Director will bring a high level of sophistication, development experience, and professional expertise to the team. The successful candidate will be a skilled relationship builder who will inspire trust and collaboration with, faculty, and colleagues across the departments and the School.\n\n<strong>Essential Duties:</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Working closely with the Director of Development, the Associate Director will serve as a member of the team coordinating fundraising efforts in support of multiple clinical departments at the Yale School of Medicine</li>\n<li>The Associate Director, working closely with faculty in the clinical departments s/he oversees, will develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy with short-term and long-term goals.</li>\n<li>The Associate Director will implement a systematic approach to cultivate and engage patients and families to create and advance a pipeline of donors for the benefit of faculty, programs and departments</li>\n<li>S/He will implement broad engagement opportunities for faculty and create innovative strategies to build and foster relationships with clinical faculty.</li>\n<li>Work regularly and cooperatively with other development offices to ensure overall development priorities, plans, and initiatives are coordinated.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p>The following Essential Duties are generic in nature; applicants will find the information in this Position Focus most relevant to the role.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Essential Duties</strong></p>\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Identifies, cultivates and solicits Yale alumni/alumnae and friends who are capable of making gifts to the University. Meets assigned activity and revenue goals.</li>\n<li>Devises and implements cultivation and solicitation strategies. Evaluates various gift opportunities and giving vehicles; recommends the most suitable for a particular donor. Develops, writes and presents proposals in keeping with university needs and in line with donor's interest and financial situation.</li>\n<li>Initiates and maintains contact with current, past, and prospective donors, promoting positive donor relations. Engages volunteers proactively as needed. Determines and executes events and programs in support of development activities, assessing the success of such events/programs and recommending changes. Identifies disaffected or disinterested donors and devises strategies to encourage/redirect their interests as appropriate.</li>\n<li>Interacts with internal contacts such as deans, directors, faculty, officers and other Development staff to consult on University needs, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies, and potential donors. Keeps abreast of University events and disseminates University information to donors, prospective donors, volunteers and team members as appropriate.</li>\n<li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ol>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Education and Experience</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Bachelor’s Degree required, a minimum of two years of fundraising experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Job title and level will be commensurate with experience.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Skill/Ability 1:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of fundraising practices.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Skill/Ability 2:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Ability to establish working relationships with a diverse faculty, staff and donor population. Proven interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Skill/Ability 3:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Ability to understand and synthesize diverse research and outreach initiatives into a cogent whole. Ability to make informed decisions, together with strong analytic and strategic planning skills.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Skill/Ability 4:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Ability to work well independently as well as demonstrated evidence as a team player.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Skill/Ability 5:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Proven ability to problem solve, be detail oriented and well-organized. Proven ability to innovate and bring a level of creativity to work.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Minimum of 5 years' experience in development and/or alumni relations. Proven successful track record of experience in major gift fundraising, preferably in the healthcare environment.
