{"job":{"jobId":1315886,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":466,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Lab Manager in Neuroscience","description":"\n\n<p><strong>Position Focus:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and working in collaboration with laboratory personnel, this position will collect, analyze and present findings regarding neurodevelopmental events in C. elegans embryos, including preparation of scientific reports and papers for research proposals and published records. The position will also create nematode transgenic strains through microinjection, and organize freezing, storing and managing the laboratory transgenic nematode strains. The position will also interact with external contacts such as researchers from other institutions and vendors to consult research methods and assist in the ordering and organization of lab reagents. Advanced knowledge in C. elegans husbandry, genetics and imaging, and in molecular biology, a plus.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Essential Duties</strong></p>\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Recommends the design and implementation of procedures and protocols under the direction of a higher-level authority.</li>\n<li>Investigates, analyzes, and reaches preliminary scientific conclusions related to research planning</li>\n<li>Ensures data results are compiled, analyzed, and presented properly.</li>\n<li>Analyzes, develops and interprets scientific results. Maintains clear documentation of results. Prepares scientific reports and papers for research proposals and published reports.</li>\n<li>Performs independent research and laboratory techniques and participates in experimental research planning.</li>\n<li>Interacts with internal contacts including the PI, research assistants, graduate students, Radiation Safety and Biological Safety officers, and Animal Care personnel to discuss and evaluate research results and to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the laboratory.</li>\n<li>Interacts with external contacts such as researchers at other institutions, staff at biotechnology and reagents companies to consult on research methods and to keep abreast of product information and developments.</li>\n<li>May perform other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ol>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Education and Experience</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline and one year experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Skill/Ability 1:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Highly motivated and reliable with exceptional attention to detail and an ability to work both independently after training and as part of a research team.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Skill/Ability 2:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Good record-keeping abilities, extreme attention to detail.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Skill/Ability 3:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Demonstrated ability in molecular biology, knowledge in C. elgans transgenics and micro injections.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Skill/Ability 4:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Excellent organizational skills and ability to perform complex experiments from start to finish.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Expertise in worm husbandry, freezing, and thawing of strains.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Weekend Hours Required?</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Occasional</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Evening Hours Required?</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>Occasional</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Drug Screen</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>No</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Health Screening</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>No</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Background Check Requirements</strong></p>\n\n\n<p>All candidates for employment will be subject to pre-employment background screening for this position, which may include motor vehicle, DOT certification, drug testing and credit checks based on the position description and job requirements.
