In addition to exogenous agents, DNA undergoes spontaneous decay, including replication errors, oxidative and other damages which arise from common metabolic processes. The repair of damaged DNA is vital for the maintenance of genome integrity, and as a result, all organisms have evolved a wide variety of DNA repair pathways that can restore DNA structure and its genetic information.</p>\n<p>The main objective of our research is to decipher the intrinsic functions of homologous recombination (HR) which has a dual role in the maintenance of genome stability. First, it promotes the faithful repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) belonging among of the most lethal forms of DNA damage. Moreover, HR is responsible for the creation of genetic variability during meiosis by directing the formation of reciprocal crossovers that result in random combinations of alleles and traits. Changes in the execution and regulation of recombination are linked to human infertility, miscarriage and genetic diseases, particularly cancer thus emphasizing the importance of better understanding the mechanism and regulation of this pathway.</p>\n<p>To achieve our goals, we utilize a wide range of different methods from biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, structural biology, and biophysics that are well established in our lab. Since we believe that interdisciplinary approach is needed to fully understand the fundamental biological processes, we also collaborate with numerous specialists.</p>\n<p><strong>The successful candidate should:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>be a researcher who has received a PhD or its equivalent within the last 7 years</li>\n<li>be a researcher who has worked at least two whole years in the last three outside the territory of the Czech Republic in the field of research with a working time of at least 0.5 full-time equivalent, or who has been PhD student (or equivalent) abroad</li>\n<li>have a publishing record – in the last three years at least two publication outputs registered in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science, Scopus or ERIH PLUS databases and at the same time publications such as “articles”, “books”, “book chapters” and “letters”.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Specific criteria can be filled, i.e.:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry or similar field</li>\n<li>at least one first-author publication in Q1 journal. </li>\n<li>Solid experience in molecular biology techniques relevant to cancer research</li>\n<li>Excellent communication in English, Curiosity and enthusiasm about science are all essential skills</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>The application should include:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>a CV including a summary of education and research experience, publication activity, involvement in research grants, etc.</li>\n<li>a scanned copy of the PhD diploma or an official letter certifying submission of a doctoral thesis for thesis defence and the planned defence date</li>\n<li>a motivation letter</li>\n<li>at least two contacts for references</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>MU offers the opportunity to get:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>an interesting job in a dynamically-expanding university area</li>\n<li>diverse and challenging work in an excellent research environment</li>\n<li>tenure track with an initial appointment for 2 years</li>\n<li>a professional team and pleasant working conditions</li>\n<li>interaction with leading scientists in an inspiring, internationalised environment</li>\n<li>a welcoming service for the successful candidate and his/her family</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Anticipated start date:</strong> The position is available from March/April 2020 or upon agreement but no later than by 30th November 2020.</p>\n<p>The submission deadline is <strong>29th February 2020</strong>. </p>\n<p>Please submit your application by e-mail to <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"mailto:vrablikova@med.muni.cz\" rel=\"no-follow\">vrablikova@med.muni.cz</a></p>\n<p>A review of applications will commence immediately after the deadline.
