We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophy.
\n\n\n
Job description\nThe postdoctoral project will focus on development of optical experimental techniques such as scanning near-field optical microscopy (SNOM) and scanning tunnelling luminescence (STL) in order to achieve deep subwavelength spatial resolution in photoluminescence measurements. The developed techniques will be implemented on a SNOM instrument available in the group. The high spatial resolution measurement methods will then be used to study advanced optical properties of wide band gap semiconductors, such as GaN and InGaN/GaN quantum wells. Project results will lead to a deeper understanding of carrier dynamics in these materials and contribute to the development of highly efficient light emitting devices. The project will include experimental work, modelling and result presentation. You can read more about what is included in a postdoctoral position in the Employment Regulations and on the Swedish Agency for Government Employers - postdoctoral agreement
\n\n\n
What we offer
\n\n\n
\n
A position at a leading technical university that generates knowledge and skills for a sustainable future
\n
Engaged and ambitious colleagues along with a creative, international and dynamic working environment
\n
Works in Stockholm, in close proximity to nature
\n
Help to relocate and be settled in Sweden and at KTH
\n
Read more about what it is like to work at KTH
\n
\n\n\n
Qualifications
\nRequirements
\n\n\n
A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline (with some exceptions for special reasons such as periods of sick or parental leave, kindly indicate if such reason exists in your resume).
\n\n\n
Preferred qualifications
\n\n\n
The applicant should have knowledge and experience in scanning microscopy techniques, preferably SNOM, be familiar with technology of scanning probes and be capable of developing experimental set-ups. One-third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering education capacity at university level is provided by KTH. The university is a strong research and education institution covering a multitude of areas, including natural sciences, engineering, architecture, industrial management and urban planning. KTH also collaborates closely with industry and society, which creates a natural arena for the practical implementation of research results. The approach is broad: interdisciplinary research is pursued alongside the work of research groups within specific disciplines, and basic research is conducted side-by-side with applied research. Several national research centres are hosted by KTH. The university is also a major partner in two out of three European Knowledge and Innovation Communities formed by the EU’s European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT): InnoEnergy, within the field of sustainable energy, and EIT ICT Labs, within information and communication research. Extensive international research and educational exchange programmes allow for exchanges with universities and colleges in Europe, the US and Australia, but also increasingly in Asia.
