We seek to organize a community of scholars interested in the systematic scrutiny of developments that have unfolded across national, regional, and continental boundaries and who propose to analyze the interconnections—cultural, economic, ecological, political and demographic—among world societies. We encourage applicants from all over the world, and especially from outside Europe and North America, hoping to create a global conversation on global history.
\n\n\n
WIGH Fellows are appointed for one academic year and are provided time, guidance, office space, and access to Harvard University facilities. They should be prepared to devote their entire time to productive scholarship and may undertake sustained projects of research or other original work. They will join a vibrant community of global history scholars at Harvard. The WIGH Fellowship is residential and Fellows are expected to live in the Cambridge/Boston area for the duration of their appointments unless traveling for pre-approved research purposes or unless Harvard University’s coronavirus pandemic response necessitates a switch to a virtual campus. They are expected to participate in WIGH activities, including a bi-weekly seminar.
\n\n\n
More information on the program, including events, affiliated faculty, and current and former fellows can be found at http://wigh.wcfia.harvard.edu/.
\n\n\n
Basic Qualifications \nThe competition for this fellowship is open only to scholars with a PhD (or comparable professional school degree).
\n\n\n
Additional Qualifications \nWe are an interdisciplinary program and open to a variety of fields, but we expect that all candidates will be involved in rigorously examining the interconnections between world societies. If still pursuing the PhD, WIGH Fellows must receive their degree no later than June 2021. There is no limit on time since submission of the candidate’s degree; we are open to candidates at various stages of their careers. We expect that candidates will be able to submit samples of independent work (articles, papers, dissertation chapters) in support of their candidacies on request.
\n\n\n
Special Instructions \nApplication materials include:\n-A cover letter which succinctly states the applicant’s academic field and proposed or actual research topic.\n-Current curriculum vitae, including a list of publications.\n-A statement of the applicant’s proposed research, including intellectual objectives and planned methodological and disciplinary work (no more than 3 pages.)
\n\n\n
Contact Information \nJessica Barnard\nWeatherhead Initiative on Global History\nWeatherhead Center for International Affairs\nHarvard University\n1727 Cambridge Street\nCambridge, MA 02138\nUSA\nhttp://wigh.wcfia.harvard.edu/
\n\n\n
Contact Email jbarnard@fas.harvard.edu
\n\n\n
Equal Opportunity Employer \nWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions, or any other characteristic protected by law.
\n\n\n
Minimum Number of References Required 2 \nMaximum Number of References Allowed 2
\n\n\n","pdfUrl1":null,"location":"Cambridge, Massachusetts (US)","location1":"북아메리카","location2":null,"location3":null,"type":"2","applyUrl":"https://academicpositions.harvard.edu/postings/9789","fileUrl1":null,"fileUrl2":null,"fileUrl3":null,"fileUrl4":null,"fileUrl5":null,"fileUrl6":null,"fileUrl7":null,"workingHour":"Full Time","contractType":"Fixed Term","salary":null,"original_id":"UNI|229603","original_domain":"https://www.timeshighereducation.com/unijobs","original_url":"https://www.timeshighereducation.com/unijobs/listing/229603/weatherhead-initiative-on-global-history-fellow-/?LinkSource=PremiumListing","original_isPremium":"true","closeType":2,"closedAt":null,"requireEducation":0,"managerTel":"","managerFax":null,"managerEmail":"jbarnard@fas.harvard.edu","managerName":"HARVARD UNIVERSITY","managerPhone":null,"managerAddress":null,"log_hit":5,"log_like":0,"publishState":1,"organizationName":null,"organizationName_en":null,"organizationName_alt":null,"createdAt":"2020-10-14T00:00:00.000Z","updatedAt":"2020-10-15T10:10:51.000Z"},"organization":{"organizationId":465,"lv1Id":null,"lv2Id":null,"name":"Harvard University","name_en":"Harvard University","name_alt":null,"introduction":"
Dating back to 1636, Harvard University is the oldest university in the US and is regarded as one of the most prestigious in the world.

It was named after its first benefactor, John Harvard, who left his library and half his estate to the institution when he died in 1638.

The private Ivy League institution has connections to more than 45 Nobel laureates, over 30 heads of state and 48 Pulitzer prizewinners.
