In accordance with the strategic plan, the University seeks to:</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>deliver a richly interactive and personalised approach to learning focussed on student success;</li>\n<li>be an international leader in educational innovation, advanced learning technologies and learning analytics; and</li>\n<li>develop enterprising graduates equipped with the skills required for success in the knowledge economy.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p>The Lecturer in Speech Pathology will supervise speech pathology students from Flinders university and other universities undertaking placements within the Katherine region of the Northern Territory. The position will also contribute to the development and coordination of other allied health student placements within the Katherine region.</p>\n\n\n<p><b>Key Position Responsibilities</b></p>\n\n\n<p>This position is predominantly concerned with supervising speech pathology students in Katherine, NT primary schools as well as facilitating allied health placements within the Katherine region. The position will involve working with students to conduct Paediatric speech pathology assessments, developing Speech Pathology intervention plans and execute these through in school environments, writing reports and assessing speech pathology students.</p>\n\n\n<p>Appointees bring recent, ongoing (concurrent) or extensive experience and knowledge of contemporary clinical/professional practice to the position. The position is also expected to make an independent contribution to high-quality university, professional and community service. The position does not include making a research contribution.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong><i><u>Teaching:</u></i></strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Supervise speech pathology undertaking work integrated learning within the Katherine region.</li>\n<li>Facilitate allied health placements in the Katherine region</li>\n<li>Contribute to the planning and evaluation of speech pathology topics in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS) at Flinders university.</li>\n<li>Provide support, academic counselling and professional advice to students concerning their studies, professional development and career opportunities.</li>\n<li>Work with the Flinders CMPH and CNHS, other universities, Katherine health services and schools and other stakeholders to develop and facilitate high quality student placements. </li>\n<li>Make effective use of innovations and technologies in teaching practice.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong><i><u>University, Professional and Service:</u></i></strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Participate as a member and contribute to the development of the Flinders University Katherine campus team.</li>\n<li>Participate as a member and contribute to the development of the Remote and Rural Interprofessional Placement Learning NT (RIPPL NT) team.</li>\n<li>Maintain professional knowledge relevant to teaching within their discipline through scholarship and professional development.</li>\n<li>Engage in activities within a relevant external professional domain such as professional associations, conferences and workshops, and within a wider community context at local, national or international level.</li>\n<li>Provide high quality contribution to community service, with a focus on opportunities that maintain clinical skills currency, on behalf of the College and University.</li>\n<li>Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the position as assigned by the Supervisor and / or the University.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><b>Key Position Capabilities</b></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Completion of tertiary qualifications in Clinical Education and/or equivalent relevant and contemporary clinical experience in paediatric speech pathology.</li>\n<li>Hold and maintain a current membership with Speech Pathology Australia</li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and professional development activities relevant to allied health.</li>\n<li>Evidence of commitment to the key elements of Flinders Reconciliation Action Plan including fostering an environment that recognises and embraces Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, knowledges, and cultures</li>\n<li>Evidence of an independent contribution to the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies both in the classroom and in clinical education, including student assessment.</li>\n<li>Evidence of reflective practice.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills with demonstrated experience in both student engagement and community engagement including with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture including an ability to build relationships and liaise with a broad range of staff and stakeholders across multiple sites</li>\n<li>Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (desirable)</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p>Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child, to hold a valid ‘Working with Children Clearance’ (Ochre Card).
