The context of health care and the influence of many factors on outcomes. As a teaching specialist role, the successful candidate/s will be expected to teach into the relevant topics as well as coordinate the topics within the NT context.</p>\n\n\n<p><b>Key Position Responsibilities</b></p>\n\n\n<p>The Lecturer Health Profession and Society will be responsible for coordination of teaching and learning within the Health Profession and Society (HPS) topic in years 1 to 4 of the Northern Territory Medical Program. The Lecturer Health Profession and Society will be responsible for making an independent contribution to teaching and the scholarship of teaching using innovations in teaching practices and technologies to deliver excellence in teaching.</p>\n\n\n<p>This position is predominantly concerned with teaching and teaching-related duties involving the creation, delivery, and continuous quality improvement of university-level education. It includes (but is not limited to): direct teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience; curriculum design and review; delivery innovation; advancements in education technologies; and making an independent contribution to maintaining internal and external compliance and accreditation of courses. The position is also expected to make an independent contribution to high-quality university, professional and community service. The position does not include making a direct research contribution.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong><i>Teaching:</i></strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Create, coordinate, and conduct inspiring teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience, with a focus on HPS across years one to four in the Northern Territory.</li>\n<li>Contribute to the planning and evaluation of these topics, undertaking the role of Topic Coordinator as required.</li>\n<li>Make an independent contribution to the review, renewal, development, and design of the curricula for HPS relevant to the NT context in relation to content and delivery.</li>\n<li>Liaise closely with teachers of HPS topics in Flinders University, as well as with organisations such as Charles Darwin University (CDU), NT Department of Health and Menzies School of Health (Menzies);</li>\n<li>Provide support, academic counselling and professional advice to students concerning their studies, professional development, and career opportunities.</li>\n<li>Make effective use of innovations and technologies in teaching practice.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong><i>University, Professional and Service:</i></strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in the College’s administrative activities such as membership of committees and working groups and attendance at College meetings.</li>\n<li>Maintain professional knowledge relevant to teaching within their discipline through scholarship and professional development.</li>\n<li>Undertake professional and community engagement activities in the discipline, across Flinders NT sites as determined by the Director, Preclinical Education Years 1 & 2 Flinders NT.</li>\n<li>Provide high quality contribution to community service on behalf of the College and University.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p>Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the position as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.</p>\n\n\n<p><b>Key Position Capabilities</b></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Completion of a PhD or EdD, or equivalent qualification and standing in Rural and Remote Health;</li>\n<li>Experience of significant teaching and learning experience and excellence at a tertiary level.</li>\n<li>Evidence of use of learning and teaching approaches which enhance student success.</li>\n<li>Evidence of successful and independent innovation in learning and teaching delivery or design, including use of e-learning technologies.</li>\n<li>Evidence of professional development of teaching including peer or supervisor reviews of teaching and/or external accreditation processes.</li>\n<li>Evidence of commitment to the key elements of Flinders Reconciliation Action Plan including fostering an environment that recognises and embraces Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, knowledges, and cultures</li>\n<li>Demonstrated contribution to academic quality assurance processes, such as topic or course reviews.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, and scholarship.</li>\n<li>Experience in coordinating and/or leading the teaching activities of other staff.</li>\n<li>Evidence of student-centred approach.</li>\n<li>Good understanding of appropriate assessment techniques – including feedback.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience or capability to engage with students (and deliver teaching modules) via online learning platforms.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills with demonstrated experience in both student engagement and community engagement including with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.</li>\n<li>Experience with engagement within a relevant external professional domain and within a wider community context at local, national, or international level which could include working parties, committees, professional associations, and conferenced workshops.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><b>Desirable</b></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person</li>\n<li>Experience in tropical, remote, or Indigenous health</li>\n<li>Tertiary qualifications in Education</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p>Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child, to hold a valid ‘Working with Children Clearance’ (Ochre Card).
