{"job":{"jobId":1471705,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":462,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Director of Diverse Communities, Alumni Relations, Stanford Law School","description":"\n\n<p><b>JOB PURPOSE:</b></p>\n\n\n<p>Stanford Law School seeks a Director of Diverse Communities to build and strengthen the school's alumni communities, particularly focusing on alumni of color, LGBTQ+, and First Gen/Low Income alumni. Reporting to the Associate Dean for External Relations, the director works in partnership with other Stanford Law School departments to ensure that different perspectives, cultures, and experiences are welcome and included in Stanford Law School’s External Relations’ programs and activities.</p>\n\n\n<p>He/she/they will work in close collaboration with the Alumni Relations team to manage a group of affinity alumni volunteer groups and programs. He/she/they will also oversee efforts to ensure that different perspectives, experiences, and cultures are represented on Stanford Law School alumni boards, committees, and councils. He/she/they will co-manage the Alumni Relations Coordinator and the Alumni Engagement Officer with the Director of Alumni Relations.\nThe ideal candidate will be committed to the importance of diversity and have experience managing volunteers. Familiarity with Stanford Law School, alumni relations and the legal profession, is highly desired. This role will require polished communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong presentation skills. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability employing diplomacy with a high regard for building and maintaining important internal and external relationships.</p>\n\n\n<p><b>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:</b></p>\n\n\n<p><b>Manage Affinity Chapters: </b></p>\n\n\n<p>Launch and manage operations for SLS’s affinity chapters including the Asian Pacific Islander, Black, Latino/a/x, and Native alumni communities and their programming efforts. Assist with the creation of new groups as appropriate. Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers, provide strategy and guidance to alumni leaders, and serve as a resource for their efforts to strengthen their communities and connections with current students. Provide support and direction for alumni-led programs, mentoring, workshops, gatherings, and conferences on campus, off campus, and virtually. Manage budgets and cost negotiations as appropriate.</p>\n\n\n<p><b>Oversee Diversity Leadership in External Relations</b> </p>\n\n\n<p>In conjunction with External Relations leadership, develop and lead the strategy to expand the pipeline of diverse volunteer leaders in law school and university alumni leadership roles to ensure that these communities are represented.\nWork closely with the SLS External Relations gift officers in their efforts to engage underrepresented communities. Create best practices to ensure all alumni feel welcome and included in law school programs and events. Benchmark efforts at other schools.</p>\n\n\n<p><b>Staff Management</b></p>\n\n\n<p>He/she/they will co-manage the Alumni Relations Coordinator and the Alumni Engagement Officer along with the Director of Alumni Relations. These individuals support the Director of Diverse Communities and the Director of Alumni Relations in the execution of alumni programs and communications.</p>\n\n\n<p><b>Build and Maintain Relationships with Law School and Campus Partners</b>:</p>\n\n\n<p>Partner with departments across the law school to identify opportunities for underrepresented law school alumni to engage with the university. This includes, but is not limited to, student affairs, admissions, career services, the Levin Center, the Rock Center for Corporate Governance, and as well as SAA, GSB and other campus groups.
