The research carried out at LTH is of a high international standard and we are continuously developing our teaching methods and adapting our courses to current needs.</p>\n\n\n<p>Biotechnology is of central importance for the transition to a sustainable bio-based economy. Development of bio-based plastics is an important area where collaboration between biotechnology and polymer technology is crucial. The Division of Biotechnology is looking for a researcher with a background in polymer technology.</p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Work duties</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Responsible for research tasks in the project at the department of biotechnology that deals with the development of biobased isocyanate-free polyurethanes and BPA-free polycarbonates.</li>\n<li>Synthesis and characterization of polymers by different methods, analyzing its recyclability and biocompatibility.</li>\n<li>Take an active role in collaboration with other parties in the project.</li>\n<li>Write scientific articles and reports. </li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualification requirements</strong></p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Applicants must have:</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Doctoral degree in the subjects of chemistry, polymer and materials science or a related discipline.</li>\n<li>Very good oral and written proficiency in English.</li>\n<li>Knowledge and background in organic synthesis, functionalization of chemicals and monomers, polymerization, polymer technology and / or characterization, shown in scientific publications.</li>\n<li>Highly motivated and strong ability to conduct research independently but also as part of a research group.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Assessment criteria and other qualifications</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Education in polymer chemistry or organic chemistry.</li>\n<li>Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of polymer synthesis and characterization.</li>\n<li>Product analysis with chromatography and spectroscopy.</li>\n<li>Knowledge of bio-based polymers.</li>\n<li>Good ability for independent, cooperative and teamwork.</li>\n<li>Good skills in planning, design and organization.</li>\n<li>Experience of working with industry or working in a company</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p>Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.</p>\n\n\n<p>Terms of employment Temporary employment, 50 %, 2021-01-01 – 2021-12-31</p>\n\n\n<p>Instructions on how to apply Applications shall be written in English and be compiled into a PDF-file containing:</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>résumé/CV, including a list of publications,</li>\n<li>a general description of past research and future research interests (no more than three pages),</li>\n<li>contact information of at least two references,</li>\n<li>copy of the doctoral degree certificate, and other certificates/grades that you wish to be considered.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p>Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
