{"job":{"jobId":2413309,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":493,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in English Literary Studies","description":"\n\nWork type: Full-time\nDepartment: School of English (04300)\nCategories: Professoriate Staff\n\n\nApplications are invited for appointment as Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in English Literary Studies in the School of English (Ref. 508727), to commence on September 1, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter.\n\n\nApplicants should have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline, a proven track record, and be prepared to teach and supervise at the B.A., M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels.  The position is open to scholars working in 19th to early-20th century literatures in English.  Special consideration will be given to candidates who also have interest or expertise in Digital Humanities.\n\n\nThe School of English offers an integrated programme in English Studies, including undergraduate teaching and supervision of research students in English and American Literatures, World Literature in English, English Linguistics, World Englishes, Sociolinguistics, Discourse Analysis, and Language and the Law. The School contributes to the teaching of the B.A. &amp; B.Ed. in Language Education (English) and the B.A. &amp; L.L.B. double degree programmes. Please note that the School is not involved in ESL teaching.\n\n\nAppointment as Associate Professor will be on tenure terms; and appointment as Assistant Professor will be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
