The project will be carried out in collaboration with members of the Cell Motility and Cytoskeleton Group of the Randall Centre for Cell and Molecular Biophysics. \n \nThis interdisciplinary project aims to investigate the regulation of cell migration and extracellular matrix formation during embryogenesis by exploiting the embryonic dispersal of Drosophila macrophages. The post holder will use a combination of advanced imaging techniques and Drosophila genetics to test the molecular signals underlying these processes along with their functions during embryonic development. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Life Sciences and have strong experience with Drosophila genetics and the cell biology of the cytoskeleton. \n \nFor more information on the work of the laboratory please visit [www.stramerlab.com](http:// www.stramerlab.com) , or contact Dr. Brian Stramer (brian.m.stramer@kcl.ac.uk). \n \nThis post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract until 31st August 2022 \nThis is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent
\n\n\n
Key responsibilities
\n\n\n
\n
To co-ordinate and drive a research project investigating the role of macrophage migration and ECM formation during embryogenesis in Drosophila.
\n
The candidate will plan and carry out experimental work, devise strategies for further development and advancement of the project, and s/he will be involved in compiling the data, and writing manuscripts.
\n
To contribute to the overall scientific endeavor of the research team and to take responsibility for areas of several of the current projects.
\n
Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be relevant to the role outline.
\n
Participate in maintenance of Drosophila stocks
\n
The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
\n
\n\n\n
Skills, knowledge, and experience
\n\n\n
Essential criteria
\n\n\n
\n
General knowledge of cell biology and the cytoskeleton
\n
Experimental research methods and project design
\n
Experience with microscopy techniques
\n
Ability to communicate findings verbally and to write scientific reports
\n
\n\n\n
\nDesirable criteria
\n\n\n
\n
Experience with Drosophila developmental biology and genetics
\n
Experience with confocal microscopy
\n
General knowledge of developmental biology
\n
\n\n\n
Further information
\n\n\n
The Selection process will be via a Panel Interview and Presentation.
\n\n\n","pdfUrl1":null,"location":"London (Greater)","location1":"유럽","location2":null,"location3":null,"type":"2","applyUrl":"https://jobs.kcl.ac.uk/gb/en/job/032866/Research-Associate","fileUrl1":null,"fileUrl2":null,"fileUrl3":null,"fileUrl4":null,"fileUrl5":null,"fileUrl6":null,"fileUrl7":null,"workingHour":"Full Time","contractType":"Fixed Term","salary":"£38,304 - £42,652 Including London Weighting","original_id":"UNI|268043","original_domain":"timeshighereducation.com","original_url":"https://www.timeshighereducation.com/unijobs/listing/268043","original_isPremium":null,"closeType":1,"closedAt":"2021-12-01T00:00:00.000Z","requireEducation":10,"managerTel":null,"managerFax":null,"managerEmail":null,"managerName":"KINGS COLLEGE LONDON","managerPhone":null,"managerAddress":"London (Greater)","log_hit":4,"log_like":0,"publishState":1,"organizationName":null,"organizationName_en":null,"organizationName_alt":null,"del_yn":"N","createdAt":"2021-11-24T19:06:14.000Z","updatedAt":"2021-11-24T19:06:14.000Z"},"organization":{"organizationId":494,"lv1Id":null,"lv2Id":null,"name":"King’s College London","name_en":"KINGS COLLEGE LONDON","name_alt":",King’s College London,KINGS COLLEGE LONDON,","introduction":"
King’s is a leading university providing world-class teaching and cutting-edge research.
