Over the past decade, DCU has also been the leading Irish university in the area of technology transfer, as reflected by licensing of intellectual property.</p>\n\n\n<p align=\"left\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Centre for Assessment Research Policy and Practice in Education</strong></p>\n\n\n<p align=\"left\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">In 2016 DCU established the Centre for Assessment Research Policy and Practice in Education (CARPE) at its Institute of Education and, in partnership with Prometric*, appointed a Chair in Assessment to provide academic and research leadership in the area of assessment.</p>\n\n\n<p align=\"left\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Role Profile</strong></p>\n\n\n<p align=\"left\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The Post-Doctoral Researcher will, under the guidance of the Prometric Chair, engage in research of interest to Prometric and to the educational community more broadly. The successful candidate will work with the Prometric Chair and others within the Centre for Assessment Research and Policy in Education (CARPE) on research projects focused on the development and delivery of tests and assessments in educational and workplace settings.</p>\n\n\n<p align=\"left\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">As part of this role the researcher will be required to participate in the <strong>DCU Research Career Framework</strong>. Applications from candidates whose doctoral studies were focused on educational assessment, testing or measurement are especially welcome. All candidates will need to demonstrate a sound understanding of principles underpinning the theory and practice of educational and/or workplace assessment and testing.</p>\n\n\n<p align=\"left\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">High level skills in research design and quantitative data analysis will also be required. The highest level of competence in written and oral communication in English will be essential. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate that they have the interpersonal skills necessary for productive collaborations, as well as the ability to bring initiative and imagination to independent work.</p>\n\n\n<p align=\"left\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Candidates will be assessed on the following competencies: </strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Discipline knowledge and Research skills</strong> – Demonstrates knowledge of a research discipline and the ability to conduct a specific programme of research within that discipline and in collaboration with industry partners.</li>\n<li><strong>Understanding the Research Environment</strong> – Demonstrates an awareness of the research environment (for example funding bodies and key industry players) and the ability to contribute to grant applications.</li>\n<li><strong>Communicating Research</strong> – Demonstrates the ability to communicate their research with their peers, with industry partners, and with the wider research community (for example presenting at conferences and publishing research in relevant journals) and the potential to teach and tutor students.</li>\n<li><strong>Managing & Leadership skills</strong> - Demonstrates the potential to manage a research project including the supervision of undergraduate and post-graduate students.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Essential Training</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The post holder will be required to undertake the following mandatory compliance training: Orientation, Health & Safety and Data Protection (GDPR). The university offers a total of 70 taught programmes across Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Health, Engineering and Computing and DCU Business School faculties including 10 different degrees in teacher education (DCU has established the first faculty of education in an Irish university).</p><p> </p><p>Occupying a 72-acre site in the Glasnevin area, just north of Dublin itself.
