We are keen to ensure that our Faculty identifies opportunities to learn, adapt and implement high quality care using learning from other regions in the world. We are especially keen to learn and implement evidence from low to high and high to low-income settings, as well as to learn and adapt innovation between high income countries. \nThe Faculty ranks no 2 in the world for its research and education (QS rankings). The 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF2014), rated over 90% of our research as world class or world leading, and 84% of our impact was world leading. Our applied clinical and health research transforms health, quality of life and care across nursing, midwifery, palliative and end of life care, rehabilitation and related clinical, health and social sciences. This appointee will contribute to a thriving multi-disciplinary Faculty spanning clinical, health services and implementation research in the UK and internationally. \n \nYou will make a substantive contribution to the academic work of the Faculty and King’s, working with education, research, and clinical teams, with the aim of obtaining continuing research funding, conducting research at a world-leading level to be published in major academic journals, and delivering inspiring undergraduate and postgraduate education, especially focussed international innovation in healthcare and nursing. You will join our multi-professional teams, with vibrant researchers skilled in qualitative and quantitative methods with a common purpose to improve patients’ lives.\n \nYour research will produce evidence that will impact on healthcare for people with long-term physical and/or mental health conditions in a global context. Nursing is one the largest workforces in health care, need is increasing across the globe, and yet is in short supply. The research and education of the postholder will address this challenge. You will join the Division of Care in Long Term Conditions, the largest of the Faculty’s research divisions. Academics working with research staff and post-graduate research students undertake research in conditions such as diabetes, mental ill-health and bowel disease alongside a focus on older health and health and social care. The post holder will also work closely with the Centre for Global Health Palliative Care led by Professor Richard Harding in the Cicely Saunders Institute of Palliative Care (a division within our Faculty). \nIn this role you will develop an externally funded research programme. Educational activities, focus on active contributions to undergraduate and post graduate programmes in long term physical and/or mental health conditions, especially within the Faculty, and will take approximately 40% of the postholders time. Our pre-registration programmes have a strong global health focus with the opportunity for global health options at undergraduate level, virtual and international electives, and international exchanges. Our new MSc Clinical Nursing has a strong international component. in 2018 King’s launched a Global Health Institute (KGHI), an interdisciplinary centre linking all Faculties, for research, education and training; collaboration with this group will be a key function… \nWe welcome interest from candidates who share our vision of delivering high quality, inclusive research and scholarship, and education in a dynamic global healthcare economy and who are enthusiastic about person, context and culturally appropriate, evidenced-based care. \n \nThis post will be offered on an indefinite contract \nThis is a full-time post and job-sharing applicants will be considered</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Key responsibilities</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Contribute to the academic research of the Faculty, working with colleagues and clinical teams, to win research funding and conduct research at international and world-leading standards, and published in major academic journals appropriate to level (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer). </li>\n<li>Collaborate on and increasingly lead externally funded peer-reviewed collaborative research projects, programmes, and fellowships, including winning funding from NIHR, UKRI and major charities as co-investigator or Principal investigator.</li>\n<li>Supervise, co-supervise and nurture clinical and non-clinical researchers including MSc/MRes and PhD students to build the field for the future.</li>\n<li>Publish research findings in high quality peer view journals, with 1 – 2 publications that are internationally excellent or world leading each year.</li>\n<li>Contribute to the planning, development and delivery of the Faculty’s education programmes and modules, including lecture planning, preparation and scholarship, assessment, and feedback of students’ work.</li>\n<li>Contribute to Curriculum Development and actively participate in team building, peer review and quality improvement initiatives of the Faculty and King’s, and in own development and embracing changes in the field.</li>\n<li>Maintain nursing professional registration if appropriate and continuing professional development</li>\n<li>Actively participate in Department/Faculty team building, and relevant committees, boards, working or executive groups as appropriate.</li>\n<li>Play a broader leadership role in the Faculty, contributing to the growth and development of our people and the wider organisation.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post. \n </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Skills, knowledge, and experience <br/>\nEssential criteria for Lecturer</strong>\n \n1. PhD in a relevant topic * \n2. Track record of peer-review publication and presentations that demonstrate international excellence or are world leading in terms of originality, rigor and significance in areas relevant to Faculty research themes \n3. Evidence of ability to secure research grant funding, demonstrated by previous experience and track record, involvement in research active teams, responsibilities, plans, awareness of funding schemes relevant to Faculty \n4. Track record of delivering and high quality education, as evidenced by student feedback, and vision and appropriate future plans for sustainable, high quality education relevant for this post \n5. Vision and appropriate plans for deliverable research programme in line with the international focus of this post \n6. Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills \n7. A flexible, energetic and well-organized self-starter able to engage actively with students, team members, the wider College and other potential collaborators in developing a programme of teaching \n8. Commitment to improving equality, diversity and inclusion in the Faculty \n9. Able to lead and manage change, and motivate others, colleagues, and students \n \n<strong>Desirable criteria for Lecturer</strong>\n \n10. Registration as a health professional in any country \n11. Track record of delivering and developing high quality, relevant teaching and education, including in curriculum development, simulation and digital, remote, or blended learning, \n12. Experience in supervising PhD students \n13. Evidence of delivering impact in research or teaching \n14. Evidence of organising and developing high quality education, with excellent student experience. \n \n<strong>Essential Criteria for Senior Lecturer</strong>\n \n1. PhD in a relevant topic \n2. A minimum of two peer-reviewed manuscripts demonstrating research of international excellence or world leading in terms of originality, rigor and significance in areas relevant to Faculty research themes and the post, published over the preceding three-year period \n3. Evidence of success in securing and delivering research grant funding as PI from external, competitive overhead-bearing funders on topics relevant to Division of Care for Long Term Condition research themes and the post \n4. A track record of leadership of, and collaboration with, research active teams \n5. Evidence of national reputation and esteem and emerging international reputation \n6. Experience of PhD supervision of ≥2 students \n7. Track record of delivering and high quality education, as evidenced by student feedback, and vision and appropriate future plans for sustainable, high quality education relevant for this post \n8. Vision and evidence of a deliverable and continuing research programme in line with the international focus of this post \n9. Commitment to improving equality, diversity and inclusion in the Faculty \n10.
